Saw white brackets for hanging signage when I walked by today.

And the CIBC does extend both north and south of its doorway.

That's a big expansion to Ramen Jinya from their current digs a couple blocks east on Robson. Makes sense though, every time I've ever been by it's rammed in there.

I don't understand why they need to hide or enclose the renovations like that. Are they doing alterations to the facade like moving windows, doors and spandrel? Can it really be that extensive to warrant having the shrink wrap and scaffolding just sitting on the balcony

Maybe some antennae will be erected?

There are also some supports added to the roofline of the Telus House building that hang over the edge - so they look to be for hanging the second skin.

More edge light testing tonight on the condo tower. This time they're not super bright or dim. They seem to match more closely the brightness on the office tower edge lighting. Shortly after I took these pics the lights were turned off.

Thanks! your updates are always a bright side to this otherwise sad condo development. Is this the first time they have had the lighting on in the zig zags? Are they still just in the testing phase of the office tower accent lighting?

The lights in the zigzag windows are just little LED lights in the upper part that shine down and light up the bottom sill so I'm not sure how prominent it is when viewed from below. Those lights have been on since at least April of this year.

The testing phase of the edge lighting on the protruding boxes on the office tower finished last year and they've been fully operational since at least August of last year.

What I was still hoping to see was edge lighting on the podium. I've never seen any of those light up yet.

Just looking at the pic that shows the office on the right, there's already several panels only half lit and one is out. What about the other sides of the office tower?

I'm not usually out and about at night so I've rarely seen the lighting on the other side of the office tower but I presume it's working. Heck, it'll be dark by 4:00 PM before long so maybe I'll see it sooner than I wish.

On the office edge lighting that I can see at night there are occasionally panels that aren't on or are dim but they seem to get corrected pretty quick because I don't recall seeing them stay like that. I really hope the whole lighting scheme on the complex stays in a reasonably consistent good working order because it would drive me crazy to see big sections out of order for long periods of time.

Yeah i fear a repeat of what happened with the WF building lighting feature but on a much larger and prominent scale. I wonder in 20 or 30 years will they end up cutting off these high maintenance lighting bands or give up on them at some point and pretend they don't exist. I wonder how watertight the bands are, if the steel structure starts to rust it could look like awful rust stained seafoam which would also cause electrical problems for the lighting. I still miss the original rendition with just painted white bands and stone accents, i can live without the lighting feature.

PS, Has anyone noticed that the lighting feature atop L'Hermitage has changed from a colour-changing band (running around the periphery) to a wider blueish stripe?

I suspect the change was made with the new Telus Garden residents in mind... a constantly changing, moving LED light strip would probably be pretty annoying right outside your window. One colour is much more subtle.
