Glad to see that they are going to use the lights to their full ability. It would be cool if they programmed some sort of elaborate light show how that played every night at midnight or something like that in addition to special event stuff.

Yeah but no one would be downtown to see it.

I live in SugarHouse, brah.

And I've been downtown plenty to know no one is down there at midnight.

Someone needs to start developing Calgary style apartment towers on State, Main and West Temple. When the demand is right they could segue over to condo, but for now I think the demand is there for more high rise apartment options downtown. Tall slender towers, with excellent balconies and oversized views, that orient toward the Wasatch would be fantastic along State. If the stats that Makid posted a little while ago are correct, and I assume they are, we need to start courting more international development investment into downtown. Basically, financing that doesn't have to have quite as quick of a turnaround in paying back their investment.

I agree with you Delts. Most major cities are doing this. I cannot comprehend the lack of intellect of the decision makers in Utah. Where in the hell are you going to put another 3,000,000+ people along the Wasatch Front? They say they want to combat sprawl...Really?

Salt Lake really lags behind in urban living. Let's be honest, the stuff going up is nice but it's also stuff that most every suburb in every region of the country is sprouting up, too, including those suburbs of Salt Lake.

They're better than nothing, of course, but it just feels we're lagging behind most cities in terms of central urban development.

But oh well.

Love how the theater has turned out. It's another magnificent gem in Salt Lake's growing portfolio. Any developer who doesn't salivate over the potential of those two plots isn't alive! What's the latest on the international heavy weight whose taking on the Pantages Theatre? I remember there was a planning process announced, but can't remember the timeline. Would be over the top excited if they do go ahead with not only restoring the theatre, but also building a residential tower on top, at the front of Main.

C'mon developers! Let's get going on those plots to the right and left of the Kearn's/Dayne's Buildings.

Sooooo that place looks less like apartments and more like a place for young, hot, urban professionals to meet up and hump like rabbits. Can't wait!

What days of the week are you downtown? The reason I ask is because I live right downtown and while not busy every night, many nights, besides Friday's and Saturday's do have a lot of people downtown, especially during the summer on Thursdays after Twilight. So while there might not be people around every night at midnight, there usually is a fair amount of people Wed-Saturday.

I just so happened to be walking down Main on Saturday and noticed that the theater was open. While I'm not a Broadway series season ticket holder I took the opportunity to check out the theater anyway. The place is very impressive, the two Main Street balconies are just incredible and offer really cool views of Downtown. I've always been in this camp but I definitely feel the the new EPAC will raise the overall level of performing arts in the region.

I think this is a really great addition to Salt Lake City, it's like nothing else we've seen, anywhere along the Wasatch Front. Yes Vue has some similar features, but only slightly. The common areas are incredible. Now leave the hot tubs open until 12 or 2 and this place will give American Towers a run for it's money.

Did you pass on the West or East side of the Tetons? They're definitely less impressive from the West. When you pass through Teton NP, you're closer and they tend to look much more massive... but you're also higher in elevation and even though the Tetons are taller than the Wasatch, the difference in height from the valley floor is similar or even less. I love both ranges, the Wasatch are home to me and the Tetons are one of my favorite places to visit.
