Are there really air bubbles in that vinyl wrapping... ugh...

(Sorry, I know my OCD is kicking in. But the way they did the signage looks a little unprofessional at a first glance. I guess I'll have to take a closer inspection at some point...)

"add to that Port Moody's past resistance to redevelopment in the town centre."

Not past, present. It was just a couple of months ago council rejected a six story building on a vacant lot (within community plan guidelines, supported by city staff, design panel and land use committee) right next to Port Moody station because people in the building behind it figured the lot should stay empty so their view wasn't blocked. (Note that the Mayor did vote in favour but was outvoted).

Current council is pretty anti-development, I assume that developers will wait to see how the next municipal election turns out and will build in Coquitlam in the meantime.

At Sapperton, they've taped a piece of paper over the bit that says "Expo Line". I expect they'll do the same at Braid when they're done.

(It'd also be matching the Canada Line) You can still indicate the line name along the sign if needed, but this seems like they're just adding white space to the sign and making the text smaller for no apparent reason.
I agree, I much prefer the existing signage.
As an aside, I inquired about getting a piece of the old signage as some wall decoration, but apparently not much of the vinyl is surviving the removal process intact

Oh my god I had the same inquiry but when I called translink they said to call Graham demolision but they said to call translink. And then Translink said to call Graham again and then I gave up.

Geez there's a lot of us trying to get whatever signage we can. I think we need to organize something so it doesn't look like theres a bunch of people making a mad grab for souvenirs.
You'll never get the vinyl stickers. You might still have a chance however at the old acrylic panels that are (were?) above the entrance at Braid. I'm in the area this weekend. Anyone got a number or something I can call during weekends to try pulling some strings?

Dear Translink:

Is is REALLY so hard to print the wayfinding signs' text so it DOESN'T cross a seam in the signage?

That's a shitty installer - i assume subcontractor. It would take no effort to have moved it to one side or the other and adjusted the line accordingly.

They did align it... but in an odd way. Notice in the image that there's a sign holder (the thick black strip) in between four sign panels. I imagine they centred it based on that...

Not saying they couldn't have done better, though.

I really don't like this new signage at all.

From This:

To this:

And This:

To this:

Just about all of the goddamn station names are over a joint. What are these people smoking??

Unrelated, but while out taking those photos I watched the Millennium Line stop both directions because of a leaf.

The fact that the old station names are over the same joint makes the story more interesting...

The opening date of the new Millennium line extension is purely political. My friend who is a senior engineer on the project said it will be ready for use by the end of the year but the government is saying Spring 2017. This is just election bundling so it is fresh in the voters minds. Stupid!!

I do expect they will be announcing the project will open "ahead of schedule" in the coming weeks... TransLink already got the new SkyTrain schedule ready, and all the bus integration are already in December's schedule.

Maybe there's a reason that TransLink's schedule is currently only available until Oct 21...

I think for everyones benefit (Political, historical etc), it should open on December 11, 2016 if ready so that it will be opening exactly 31 years to the day when the Expo line opened December 11, 1985.

So I'm confused... Since when did Sapperton and Braid become part of the expo line? Was there some announcement that I didn't see?

When the Evergreen Extension opens, the Expo Line will run from Waterfront to Production Way (and King George). The Millennium Line will run from VCC-Clark to Douglas.

So the millennium line won't run alternating with expo from waterfront anymore?

do you know what made them decide to change it up like that? Where did they publish this information? I'd be interested in reading it.
