Good catch. From what I remember of the renderings of both phases is that the colour on the front of phase II will be copper, ilke the back of phase I, and the back will be blue like the front of phase I (see pics below of phase I). So, when it's all done you'll see both colours from north or south.

Langara golf course

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before but i'm curious if Langara golf course is city owned or private?

While maintaining a large public park aspect; What are the chances the grassy 'green' areas could be redeveloped? It's a huge parcel of land and as someone who thinks golf is intensely boring and knows nobody who golfs either, it seems like a big waste of land in a prime spot. I really feel there is a better use for this property considering how close it is to Langara 49th station. Thoughts?

City owned.

There has been talk about making the course smaller or developing it entirely.

Personally I would be for redeveloping half the site and turning it into a 9 hole course.

Or pitch and putt.

I'm in favour of not developing the Langara Golf Course. It's a huge plot of publicly owned open space in the middle of the city in an area that is going to get more dense in the years ahead. Whether it remains a golf course, though, is something that I think merits a longer-term conversation.

I agree that golf is an activity that appears to accessible to a small-ish strata of the population and there is no shortage of private golf courses in the region. However, I don't know what to propose in place of the golf course while still maintaining it as a public park. A half-and-half redesign to create passive- and active-use spaces could be great. I'm imagining the active spaces could include preservation of the orbital running path and a pitch and putt area, plus several baseball diamonds and soccer fields, etc., which would help alleviate the chronic shortage of field sports venues for organized leagues (Urban Rec, etc.). For the passive spaces, a combination of fields, natural wooded areas, and potentially a major pond/lake (maybe even with paddle boats!) could be a great addition.

Queen Elizabeth Park is nearby, but due to its grade and the surprisingly extensive network of roads, it actually is pretty limited for useful space.

New rendering now available of Westland's project at Dunbar & 16th. More project details: https://www.buzzbuzzhome.com/ca/the-grey

It has empty lots on either side of it and is on the northwest corner of the intersection of W. 41st and Dunbar.

Then a while later when I went by Dunbar and 16th Ave I see a similar Westland sign on a building on the NW corner. When I went to the website (www.westlandcorporation.com) it was down for maintenance but I also found an item from the Vancouver Sun about the people from Westland who are trying to assemble a redevelopment site there.

It'll be interesting to find out more and watch these sites.

Yeah that building is out of place and looks straight out of a 90's suburban office park, I'd imagine the structure was built fairly cheap too. I'm hoping it gets fully renovated or redeveloped in the near future.
