When you zoom out of Streetview, there is a location that is identified as "Main Sewage Treatment Playground"!

I guess there is supposed to be a space between "treatment" and "playground" and they aren't referring to a single place.

The hosts also become local celebrities in their own right - and, actually, usually are before they become host. Pete Soucy was known for being Snook, for example, and I think Paddy Daly was pretty well-known in local hockey circles before becoming host.
That's interesting. Given the size of the market it sounds like talk radio is filling the role of TV talk shows in St. John's.

90 Adelaide Street East deserves to be on here. I hope it's rentals which means maybe one day it can be replaced. It has such an awesome location as well.

It looks like every unit has its own private driveway. Kind of interesting.

With a different colour it would look right at home on a beach in Florida.

I don't even think it's that bad, though it does look like they simply enlarged a child's arts and crafts project.

Local lifestyle magazines (Toronto Life would be the big leagues example) do better in SOntario as far as local focus goes. The lowbrow stuff would be the supermarket checkout tabloid stuff that's mostly from the States or something like the Canadian version of Hello!

We even have one here in Gatineau: http://www.flecheoutaouais.com/#flecheoutaouais

There is no celebrity content whatsoever. Though there are articles on local culture.

They do have a print edition, which is free and easy to find in grocery stores, theatres, pâtisseries, etc. all over the region.

I remember that blue and white were fairly popular in that shiny glazed brick. You still see bits of it here and there, although more on commercial buildings than residential.

Princess Diana has been dead nearly 20 years, and they still have her on the cover?

Perhaps there's an in-depth report inside about her still being dead.

Saw this lovely crackshack complete with rusting farm equipment the other day.
This streetview is a year old so it's been sitting this way for a while.

A cultural one. Our most popular magazine at the grocery this morning:

It serves the lowest common denominator in our society - basically our version of Fox News: obsessed with the Royal Family, religion, local beauty queens, AMERICAN SOAP OPERAS, Coronation Street, family values, and anyone anywhere who has ever visited here or said something nice about us.

The frequency of Royal Family profiles is... insane. Diana has probably been on the cover 20 times since I moved home in 2012.

Some of the most recent past issues as reference:

The Newfoundland Herald could probably best be described as the quintessential "reading material of Nan's bathroom".

Their treatment of NTV's generally awful on-air personalities as celebrities on equal footing as Hollywood A-list movie starts is particularly amusing. Eddie Sheer has to be the worst weatherman in North America.

Comments like this always make me smirk.

What's a celebrity anyway?

Three quarters or more of the world's population have never heard of Dr. Phil.

Jerry Seinfeld is a nobody to the vast majority of people in the province of Quebec.
