I've always liked that house and I'm glad it's being restored. It makes the project more interesting rather than yet another solid block of VMU like all the other VMUs.

You know I wished they left the houses fronting Rainey street instead of ripping them out for the Millennium. It would have been more interesting and would have kept the character of the street better intact.

I love seeing old houses kept around, by no means do I think old houses should be torn down. But that little house on the hill looked like a complete dump the last time I looked at it. If they have restored it and put solar panels on the roof as stated, then good for them.

I don't remember the source, but the house was apparently restored for use as the construction and/or sales office. After that I don't know what it will be used for. But it looks good now and is a nice reminder of what the area once looked like.

This project proposed as 70 Rainey's next door neighbor has been discussed before, but I don't remember if this rendering was posted. Anyway, I really hope this gets built, but I haven't noticed any permit filings for it.

Just drove past the slot on Rainey where this is supposed to go. It's really a perfect fit. Will help add a transitional height layer, between the bungalows and the skyscrapers.

I clicked on the pdf link on Viceroy's website to see more of the proposal. It has 2 underground levels as a music venue?! That's rad.

The architecture and use of space is just awesome. I really, really hope this happens.

I've showed it to a couple of clients of mine. Very cool. I think it is very strong it will happen. Albeit a few more years from now.

Large music venues on Rainey is simply logical. This is rad. Hope it happens.

This is almost the sort of thing I thought would be part of the Waller Creek redevelopement when the tunnel and possible river type walk was being kicked around. If this gets built in Rainey St, it will become as the name on the right side business implies, a magnet for the entire neighborhood. I love the design and overall functionality of this structure. This to me now becomes an absolute no brainer that it will be a huge success and a new definer of what Rainey Street is, other than just a bunch of new high rises. I think this should be phase one of at least a few more of these for the area. As a matter of fact, this is the sort of idea that the Seaholm power plant should have adapted instead of selling out to private business. These places are pure neighborhood enhancers.

You know, it occurred to me that this type of project never would have come about if not for the zoning change that paved the way for development and then the economic downturn delaying development long enough to turn the area into a beloved strip of bars (aka a district in its own right). If development had picked up shortly after the zoning change, then we probably would have seen some very different-looking buildings.

Crockett Partners has owned it since 1976. They haven't sold it yet and no proposals have been filed with the City's development office, but if the Jack In The Box is closed there must be something cooking there. The site is 3/4 of an acre (0.7231 to be exact) and has existing access from three sides. It would be a sweet infill development site for something tall and skinny if height is allowed on that site. The zoning is CS-V which is General Commercial, Vertical Mixed Use Overlay. I think there might be a CVC involved but I haven't checked. Someone should snap that up if it's available.

That closed Jack-in-the Box is currently being used as a big urban camper gathering spot. I went buy there around midnight last night and was impressed by the huge crowd and their gear.
