The tunnel is still a construction site, so its unlikely any trains can be sent through the tunnels.

The rest of the trackbeds (outside the tunnels) are complete, which is why they can be used for testing trains.

The trains being tested east of the tunnels were trucked from the OMC, likely to Falcon Storage Yard where they were placed on tracks again.

I'm wondering if Falcon is also being used as a 'light maintenance' shop, since these test trains can't get back to the OMC for their scheduled maintenance.

I doubt a new MkIII train will be trucked to Falcon just for testing, it would be easier to wait until the tunnel is completed and run them on the whole line. I doubt there would be any surprises with running the MkIII trains on the extension, since the dimensions of the MkII and MkIII cars are quite similar.

Even if the MkIII trains pass their tests on the Evergreen Extension, I don't think they will be seen in regular service there because the MkIII trains are intended to be used on the King George - Waterfront service. With these 7 new MkIII trains in service this year (and next year 7 more MkIII trains because the option was triggered), that will free up the MkI and MkII trains needed for Millennium/Evergreen service.

They laid tracks, LIM rail, and power rail right after the trackbed and tunnel walls are completed and before they started working on the ceiling. Not sure why they would do that out of order if not for sending trains over...

Makes sense to put back a version of what it used to be as long as it serves a purpose for traffic flow etc. Who knows...

I heard that there was a truck stalled in the tunnel, but I don't know a) if that was at the same time, or b) why that would require four fire trucks.
