Yeah putting up fake heritage buildings makes no sense to me. If they're really convincing people (tourists in particular) will not be happy to learn they've been duped if they ask and will question how much of it is real. If they're not convincing (which is a tacky concept) they're just tacky visually which seems to be what we get a lot of the time.

Preserve the heritage buildings we have and leave no doubt which buildings are new - is that so complicated?

Just look at some of the buildings on Harvey Road. They just....look a bit off. The faux-heritage is a sham. Heritage is culture, not a building style.

Driving around Downtown lately feels like there's a lot of construction happening! It may not be new projects but there are quite a few larger (need to be done)projects in the densest parts of DT so it feels like there's some form of construction around every corner.

Scotia Building is still being worked all, shouldn't be much longer by the looks of things. Then down the road is the Alt Hotel and up on Duckworth there's lots of activity around Mix.

Heading in from the west you have the city hall annexe being completely redone, then that new building for trinity pub (large on the george street side and infill on the duckworth street side), then there's scotia building and MIX which are pretty large projects, then the next large one is the construction of ALT hotel which is coming along quite fast now. I think there's a few other smaller things going on like fixing facades and such as well which adds to it.

I came across this "proposal" for a corporate campus in Paradise:

I hope this gets built. I like it, especially the tower part!

Looks very interesting! probably wont feel as 'in the woods' as the projections but very cool. Also, because it's in Paradise, it'll probably get through, that council seems to be more interested in getting things built in the town than the architecture/stuff that causes things to be viciously shot down in St. John's itself.

It appears the tower, if you include the bottom portion, is approx. 18 stories. That's awesome!

I don't think any of us are big fans of constructing office buildings in random spots but that Paradise proposal is so cool, especially if it is actually in the woods (though where are the woods in Paradise now).

Based on the background in the first image, it looks to be somewhere near McNamara Drive/Kenmount Road Extension.

For sure. There's something about the "campus" model that I like/ think works for St. John's. Not sure what it is. I love the one by Bowring Park. Have some beefs with the location of the parking lot but otherwise VERY well done IMHO.

I don't think we really know. I'm sure it would have been bigger news if it was a real proposal?
