I believe Edmonton is in competition with Calgary and this explains why their numbers are so low.
Moncton is of course competing with Halifax, but our airport is aggressively pursuing cargo traffic, and is a terminus for Purolator, Fed Ex and UPS. Our central location in the Maritimes helps.
Having said all this, I don't think that Stats Can table accurately captures all the air freight out of YHZ. Halifax Stanfield sends a lot of seafood to Europe and the Middle East, and I don't think that is being reflected here. I know for a fact that YHZ has greater cargo numbers than YQM, but the difference between the two airports is not substantial.
