I'm breathlessly waiting for 676 N Lasalle and 675 N Wells to get started. Also will be glad with that 300 block of West Huron thing gets going, and the Chicago/Wells condo building and the hotel at Clark/Huron. I want them all done no later than 2019 for inclusion in the next census.

I don't see on pg 1. Lennar's plan for a highrise at the surface lot they bought at Huron and Wells

I'll take it, although it has too much parking. What's up with the West Loop and parking?

I would almost rather have buildings with less parking and separate garages built for the purpose of providing parking for those who visit from outside of the neighborhood. If anything, that is a way to provide MORE parking. This is opposed to having garages in each individual building that may not necessarily be available to the public and thus, a lot of unused parking spaces.

This is great news, on CIM's equity investment in this John Murphy project (1326 S Michigan) and I'd think may well get this tower launched this year.....I'd just been wondering about this tower's prospects/prospective timing, and I think this goes a ways toward addressing. Now we just need Crescent Heights to get their huge Roosevelt/Indiana tower out of the ground, and the South Loop boom is back......

Other note: CIM is very clearly quite bullish on Chicago - nice to have their deep pocketed investors very active in downtown development here.....

This is promising. I'm going to have to keep referencing the Curbed development map to keep track of everything in the neighborhood. Bye bye, parking lots!

Thought I will say, I'm ready for the West Loop to start getting some contemporary/high-design boutique condo buildings. If it's our closest approximation to a Lower Manhattan neighborhood, it'd be cool to have a Kreuck & Sexton or Ronan do something like Soo Chan & Zaha Hadid's smaller buildings in Chelsea, Tadao Ando's in Nolita or Renzo's in Soho.

^ Couldn't agree more, the West Loop needs to grow out of its current box. I really hate most of the development there from the last boom--dull neo-historic boxes often with ground floor parking and opaque windows. And the NIMBYs there are a menace to society. Time to clean all of them out and bring in some new energy.

Since CIM is involved now they should give SCB the boot and building something like this that they have going on in Austin.

This particular SCB design isn't bad, so I won't mind seeing it built in its current iteration.

What in the world are you talking about?! That Austin design is fairly hideous.......quite clumsy.....SCB's design at 1326 (the one actually being built) is - while I'm not drooling over it, and as an aside I'd have actually preferred a north-south orientation of the tower as SCB initially worked-up - clearly a better work of architecture. Do you just mean that Austin project is taller? If so, I'm afraid that counts for relatively little.

By the way, CIM would just be an equity investor in 1326 - they are not the operating developer, as that is Murphy. Quite similar to CIM's role in Golub's 1001 South State. Presumably - as was the case in 1001 - CIM is investing in 1326 because they like what Murphy has already cooked-up.......
