Nice to see positive growth in these challenging times! International showed excellent growth and transborder's freefall has been reduced to only a small decline.

International up 7.5% YTD up 6.9%

May has been revised to an increase of 0.1% from a decrease of 0.1%.

Two of the cloud seeders were working that thunderstorm as it passed over right over the west and south of Calgary last night around 7PM. It was pretty fun to watch. I've never seen them work over the city before.

Pacific Coastal has been flirting with some regional bc routes... some successful, some not. Perhaps they will give that one a go.

I have looked at the total Westjet peak winter schedule from YYC and the final tally will be about 108 flights per day down from 113 daily last winter.
Mainline goes from 84 to 79 while Encore stays about the same at about 29 daily just down slightly. Overall approximately 40 frequencies per week less than last winter. So in the grand scheme of things, that's not that bad.

The following routes will see increases in flying as compared to last winter - (based on frequency, not necessarily capacity):

YYF, YQR, YXE, YVR
CUN, ZIH, MZT, PVR and of course the new year-round route to LGW

The following routes will see decreases in flying as compared to last winter:

YXX, YBR, YQQ, YEG, YMM, YQU, YKA, YXU, YXS, YXT, YYZ, YYJ
FLL, LAS, PSP

Note: in some cases frequencies varied by only one or two per week.

The most significant drop was YYC-YEG and the largest gain was YYC-YVR

There was a stupid amount of over-capacity for WS on YYC-YEG even after the most recent cuts. I feel like this set of cuts will finally reduce capacity to the point that it actually matches demand.

AC will be down to 12 daily as well but should all be Q400s.

Had my first 787-9 flight last night and hands down it is the best plane I've ever been on. YYZ-YYC 4 hour domestic hop felt like a legitimate full-on International Flight!

What is the largest diversion YQL could handle? 320/737 size or could it accommodate a 767/787?

I suppose it "could" handle a 767 but at about 6500', YQL's main runway is about the shortest you'd want to use for one of those birds. Some runways are also weight limited, I'm unaware if YQL falls in that category. Speaking of their main runway, I'm not convinced it's only 6500'. I'll go dig up our charts and see if it's not longer than that...

Incidentally, the AC Airbus is back flying in service since yesterday. They had to replace quite a few sensors as well as the obvious larger bits. Cha-ching.

6,500 and 5,500 indeed for YQL, if there's weight limits it would come down to weight per bogey cause the C17 is a regular visitor to the YQL Airshow at an empty weight of 128 tonnes vs 90 tonnes of a 763, but it has more wheels on the main gear.

6 weekly through winter.

This means mainline will still crack the 80 daily mark next winter now.

Also - what is the elevation of YQL???
6500 ft. would be very skimpy on a hot day - even for a 737-200 - I would think.
When was the last up grade to YQL runways done???

I am on the understanding - that a C5 Galaxy was featured at the YQL airshow - some years back. Did they land at YQL - or somewhere else and just do a fly over???

Taking off with a useful load with the short runway is the hard part. The C5-Ms might be able to do it with a good load, but not the ones with the old engines still.
