How is the traffic situation up by NAIT or where ever it was where the new north line opened up and people were complaining up having to wait multiple lights for the train - have things got better? Have they also sped up those trains on that leg?

Our lawyer and City lawyer going to court Friday to see about a court date in August. Part of our case is the City did not get proper approvals from the Province as specified in the 1975 Capital City Recreation Park agreement. The Province paid for the bridges and trails, and purchased land for the park, which runs from Hermitage to the High Level Bridge. As a result, they wanted assurances the City would not do things like take down the footbridge without the Minister of Environment giving her approval. To our knowledge, the City did not ask for, or get, the Minister's okay.
There doesn't seem to be a copy of the agreement readily available.

'Made aware' versus 'approval' is likely what will come into play here...my guess is 'approval' by way of being 'made aware'.

I swing through there a little after 7am and again the other way just after 4pm. I'd say I still get caught by the lights fairly consistently but am moving again within 1.5-3 minutes. It's still irritating when the lights are red for a minute before the controlled crossing barriers come down, when you'd think they could sink them better, but that's a minor bone of contention. The odd time the wait is still 5 minutes, but rarely.
the province is funding a big portion of the line. They were more than aware. I hope this group gets charged back for the time they have wasted. I find it oddly satisfying that through 9 days of this go fund me being live, they've raised a grand total of 570$. The C2E gofundme had like 8000 in less time.
^ Yup; as much as I want to say "I can't wait for the injunction to be denied and for them to fade into irrelevance," sadly I can't imagine that even being close the hearing the last of these folks.
as much as I think the Valley line is a complete gong show to be and an epic waste of money, fighting it on the basis of a footbridge was not the stance to take
now, suing the city for effectively setting fire to billions, or refusing to pay property tax based on proven historical misuse of the funds..
^ It's an obscure and poorly-worded clause in an old legislation. Legal trickery, not due dilligence.
That's the other thing, do these guys really think the province would hold up a municipal project, especially if the result is that it will cost the city tens of thousands of dollars a week during the delay?

Edmonton will become the first Canadian city to be mapped by Uber, the ride-sharing company announced Friday.
A few dozen Uber mapping cars have begun to criss-cross Edmonton collecting data and images as part of an international project.
“For us, the most important thing for Uber globally is to improve the pickup and drop-off experience,” Manik Gupta, Uber’s head of mapping and a former Google Maps executive, said in an interview Friday.

Reserved Parking - changes start September 1
Due to high customer demand, the number of reserved parking stalls will increase at Clareview, Belvedere, Stadium and Century Park, including up to 75 per cent of Century Park stalls being available for reserved parking, starting September 1, 2016. Those currently on wait lists will be contacted directly. Customers can still apply for a reserved parking stall.

^ Come to think of it, though, the footbridge group does at least tend to brand all their materials; whomever made these didn't have the guts to say who they were.
