I don't have it handy, but will look when I have a chance. they sold it as having more sideline seats than Taylor Field, but they are counting end zone sideline seats that TF of which has very few.

Right, because the 10 times a year the riders play at the stadium means the field shouldn't have a few other markings for other sports so other sports communities can use it. Soccer teams play at Mosiac all throughout the summer and hopefully the same happens in the new stadium. You might not care for soccer but I bet there are more soccer players in the city than there are football players..

Yes but they don't need to play in a $300 million stadium. - it just make no sense.

They should definitely leave the old turf at TF for minor sports until they actually need the land for redevelopment. They should also turn the practice field into a soccer field.

I didn't say I don't care for soccer - I like it. I said the marks mess up the field. Paint or chalk yellow marks when they play soccer. How many people show up for amateur soccer games outside mom and dad? Lots of places in Regina can accomodate crowds of 25 to 30, not just mosaic.

These comments are ridiculous, it was sold to the public as a multi purpose facility and to be used by the community more than just 10 times a year. Just because a few extra lines on the pitch don't make it look as clean or nice as it would without doesn't justify not letting other community groups use it or chalking in lines. And to suggest that because the stadium won't fill up with fans for a soccer game justifies your argument boggles my mind.

If the football team ponied up the money to pay for the whole thing than sure limit it to just football. But taxpayers like you and myself paid and so we should get to use it other than going to a riders game.

Wrong, it makes no sense to build something for close to $300 million, paid for in part by taxpayers and then tell them sorry you can't use it because this is only for a professional sports team that will use it 10 times a year. Why do you think soccer is played on Mosiac today? It's because there are not enough fields in the city to meet the demand. Fancy and new doesn't mean it should only benefit the elite..

You opened a big can of worms with this one.

On riderfans, you defended the Mosaic symbol in the middle of the field because they are paying $20+ million. I completely agree with that. I personally like that it is Mosaic. It matches well with Saskatchewan and Regina symbolically.

But can you not see the parallels? The community is putting in more than $20+ million. The community plays various sports on turf. What are a couple of yellow lines that aren't that visible? It's not like it's a gigantic trademarked symbol in the middle of the field.

It is not BS at all. I am talking about organized soccer with proper goals, refs and linesman, not a bunch of kids playing pick up soccer. I've been playing city soccer for years and know people who work for the Regina soccer association. The demand is there and over the last number of years the reasons they have moved to more games on turf is because of the growing demand and the fact that grass fields lead to a lot of rain outs and then it becomes a scheduling nightmare to try to rebook all the rained out games. Men's soccer often play games at 9:30 at night just because that is the only time available.

I don't really feel sorry for them. My hockey team regularly has to play after 11pm.

No, it wasn't build for kids soccer. But it wouldn't have been built if kids soccer was going to be played there. Get it? The government wasn't going to pay for this unless it was going to be used for all activities and events. It doesn't matter that the CFL will be the biggest money-maker there, it matters that both were requirements (CFL and community), so therefore both have demands to be met.

I mean that if it is being built for use by both, then it is fair to have it be designed for both, especially if it's a requirement. If it was only the Roughriders ever playing there (and Rams, etc) then it would be fair to tailor it to them and no one else but since it was the city and province that paid for it, then it's fair to design it for easy use by soccer groups.

Just to clarify, the Riders and their fans are paying $140 million. You're point is still valid though.
