I wonder why they haven't started working in the other end of it yet? They're already putting in the precast concrete on the Main Street side when there isn't any steel up on the tracks side

I'm going to post it on the Canada site.

As for the construction schedule, I imagine it has to be choreographed to make proper use of the crane. Since the crane is currently located in the centre of the building (ice surface area), it makes sense to continue working on the north side of the building before proceeding to the south side. The crane will likely be located on the exterior of the building when the south side is completed (we don't want the crane to get trapped inside the arena do we?).

Finally, you can see where they're working on the parking lot next to Heritage Court as well. This lot will be used for event parking for the Events Centre in the evening and will be connected to the centre via a tunnel under the CN main line.

On a side note I think the "for lease" sign is off the old smt bus terminal beside Crowne Plaza...don't know if it's just leased again or if something may be afoot for that site? Or maybe simply a new listing company haha.

Will the parking lot actually be connected under the rail?

The original Event Centre plans have either a walking bridge above or pedestrian tunnel bellow the tracks to this parking lot.

The other end is coming however a path for the crane has to remain at the end and will only be made once 100% of the trusses will be erected, i assume that they put focus on the front to give an area for other trade to start on.

For precast it has to be installed before the truss and will happen early August.

I am paying for an EMPTY parking spot. Without enforcement I'm paying for a spot where anybody can park.

So you're paying for a jerk who preys on unsuspecting folks who don't understand the rules laid out on confusing signage...his hourly wage, his vehicle, gas, his company aka boss, administration assistant etc...I'd rather pay for an automated gate...likely cheaper for you and better for everyone else.

Absolutely NOT cheaper. The company I rent from also owns another lot nearby that is gated and staffed. They charge $60 more per month in that lot.

I think the main difference there is Im talking about an automated gate system with a pass card which works well for a lot in which only monthly users exist...a staffed booth is only required when "visitor" parking exists such as behind assomption or at the hospital main lot etc. There's no way an automated gate would cost more than the existing booter contract (yes set up would be costly but I hope the lot owner would have foresight to see the long term cost when it comes to customer cost)

The only thing that might be an issue with the placement of the building is if nothing get built between the arena and the 1235 Main.. It's no gaurantee that someone will build here and that could end up leaving a very open spot with a oddly industrial feel, just because it will be the back side of an arena, with no entrance etc.

The rendering shows a building there, but I suspect the lot may remain empty for some time considering the large residential construction projects elsewhere in the area (i.e. 55 Queen, Horizon Place). Worse case; it's left as a dirt lot used for parking for the next several years right in front of Main street. Then when the market picks up and construction occurs, an uproar of opposition emerges for the "loss" of Events Centre parking... just like what is happening in downtown Dieppe right now.

Would be nice to have some more details on that, and what the city plans to do on the other side of the street to match it potentially.

Would be awesome to somehow incorporate a link from Via/Maritime Bus hub to the Codiac Tranpo hub.

Nope, to my understanding the red roofed building in the front of the plaza is an information kiosk/cafe, which will also rent skates in the wintertime when the central part of the plaza is flooded as an outdoor skating rink.

Ah well that's cool too..i suppose the current bus terminal is further down the street possibly just out of view...does anyone know if any upgrades are planned for it in conjunction with the events center?
