the worst offenders here in London are: (1) Furniture Stores, and (2) Flower shops.
Especially furniture stores, as they are (a) always going out of business ("everything must be sold right down to the bare walls!!"), and (b) take forever to go out of business (most recent near my house, took more than 8 goddamned months to finally shutter....and then with another furniture store quickly taking its place).
some sad sack temp worker out there in the beating sun (blinding rain/snow)...must be bored beyond belief, in addition to experiencing the humiliation of serving as a human billboard.

This is still my favourite furniture store though for the creepy picture of the owner that appears on their delivery trucks. Here's her and I'm assuming her son.
You knew it had to happen sooner or later... and waiting until Calgary was a big city was a smart play on the part of the Tsuu'Tina.
But why did they finally pull the trigger in the middle of an economic downturn?
Because it's tied directly into the construction of the new ring road. Unfortunately it's only one part of their mega plan though. There's also going to be a suburban office park and big box hell land with a Costco anchoring it. All this to ruin the pristine beauty of the Weaselhead. That mall was just the most garishly ugly pic i could find. Looks like it has a 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 nuclear power stack sticking out the top of it. Worse than Cross Iron Balls.
I like the cut and paste woodframe condo development sticking out of the trees in the "Hotel and Hospitality" pic. Lens flare in "leading edge entertainment" also screams quality.

Yeah that woodframe condo plopped on top of the trees with absolutely no attempt made to blend it in is hilarious. The lense flare as well. The one hope I have is that the mall depicted is just another crappy 'artistic vision' that won't end up looking that way at all. I'd take generic stucco box mall over that Cross Iron Kitsch any day! It looks like a hybrid of Eau Claire Mall from the 90's mixed with Cross Iron. Who thought this looked good? I wonder if they'll allow smoking in the mall like they do the Casino? That'll really push it to that next level...
It's really just a matter of time before les Residences Soleil realizes the potential gold mine they're missing out on. The two most frequent types of businesses I saw were optometrists and hearing loss clinics.
Is that a mall or a midway? It looks like there should be rollercoasters, zippers, drop zones, and human slingshots on all of that tacked-on 🞵🞵🞵🞵.
Not to mention the giant cowboy hat tying it all together.

It's less of a cowboy hat and more of a nuclear power stack. I also see the outline of the Saddledome in the useless curves on the right hand side of it. Pretty sure the oil derrick 'art' was ripped right off an entrance of Cross Iron Mills. Any way you stack it it's horrible looking. It could almost be a post-apocalyptic fortress built from scavenged materials.
