Seriously though curtains are one of those things where, like, they're cheap, so why do so few people have them? Blankets cost just as much as curtains but take more effort to attach to a wall????

I see the blanket curtains a lot in Timmins too! I guess we both must have the same types of people in our cities!!!

It's okay we get them here too. My personal favourite is still tinfoil though. I once had a guy from Thunderbay work for me who bragged about how he would put tinfoil up on his windows and it saved him so much on his electricity bills. He no longer works for me. Though that's for other reasons. The tinfoil, however, was still indicative of his deeper psychological problems.

For some reason, we don't have those in Quebec. I always notice the difference when we go to Ontario (and pretty much elsewhere in North America, really). I wonder how and why we are spared from these horrific things. Strict city by-laws?

These are awful. I've been saying for years there should be a bylaw against temporary sign 🞵🞵🞵🞵 like this. 99 st. in Edmonton is absolutely dominated by these things and people in costumes dancing and waving signs at intersections.

Any company that hires some poor soul to degrade themselves wearing a sandwich board or costume on the side of a road is not one I'd give my money to. I remember a local Dairy Queen that made some poor schmuck go dance in a clown costume with a sign advertising 0.99 burgers at an intersection. What about that is supposed to entice people to come eat at your establishment? A) Clowns are creepy as 🞵🞵🞵🞵 B) I'd be afraid to eat a 0.99 hamburger.

The most recent version of this is those sign flipper guys. At least they make a show of it.

The sheer garishness of those black/dayglo plywood and coroplast abominations makes the older-style backlit signs almost look classy and understated by comparison:

the worst offenders here in London are: (1) Furniture Stores, and (2) Flower shops.

Especially furniture stores, as they are (a) always going out of business ("everything must be sold right down to the bare walls!!"), and (b) take forever to go out of business (most recent near my house, took more than 8 goddamned months to finally shutter....and then with another furniture store quickly taking its place).

some sad sack temp worker out there in the beating sun (blinding rain/snow)...must be bored beyond belief, in addition to experiencing the humiliation of serving as a human billboard.

It's even better when they have spelling errors. I drove by a furniture store today that was having a "temprature sale". Either a spelling error or they ran out of 'E's and thought no one would notice.
