Here is another from the same guy. A different angle for the skyline. His Facebook page is nearly all cars with the odd skyline thrown in.

The amount of time they've spent digging, grading, re-digging, grading, etc the parking lot, it had better be gorgeous. Anyone know if there was someone specific they needed to address? I bet they spent 3 weeks actively working in the northeast corner of the lot... seemingly just digging & grading.

They scaffolded the entire place. That's about all the progress they've made on the building itself in the past month.

I know that is the end of the crane at the top of the picture right by the dome, but at first glance, it looks like the demo CF-18 doing a fly-by on Canada day.

New Buildings at Grasslands

There is a foundation in place for a new building at Grasslands/Harbour Landing on the corner of Harbour Landing Drive and the road that goes past Walmart/London Drugs/Canadian Brewhouse. (See link below and go to Page 2/3 'Site Aerial' and 3/3 'Site Plan'). This smaller building now appears on the Grassland website along with the larger building that we have assumed would be the theatre complex, which now has 'leased' over the building. The shape of the larger building is a bit different than what was previously posted, and it appears to have a loading dock in back. In the description for the Urban Village it states "Amenity retail such as grocery and fashion, alongside entertainment and food services will all be included..."
So what do you think? Theatres? Grocery store? Canada's largest Giant Tiger?

The small building will apparently be a Knight Archer insurance (unless that fell apart) plus another retailer. The large building is going to be Winners.

Well I guess the movie theatre is dead which might bring new hope for the railyards.

I have been hoping that a theatre would either go somewhere around the Rose Street downtown area with all those empty city blocks or in the new Railyard redevelopment over Harbour Landing. Crossing fingers!

Also, and I know there are many of these former gas station brown plots in Regina that need to be cleaned up and developed but I really wish the south Albert Street one across from the Golden Mile would be developed.

Does anyone happen to know what the large, green, bird cage-looking apparatus in front of the Tuscana building that is part of the East Pointe Estates subdivision (four yellowy-cream coloured buildings) at the corner of Dewdney and Prince of Wales is supposed to be?

Interesting that Winners would choose to build so close to Marshalls, which they also own. Reminds me of Best Buy and Future Shop being so close in the east end (only these will be closer). I guess they must not think it will be cannibalize sales between the stores. Mind you, the Homesense side of things isn't really replicated within Marshalls.

Huh. This article from December states quite unequivocally that there's a Ramada going up at Grasslands.

The article makes it sounds like it already started. I really don't think there'a any more room for another hotel in Grasslands.

http://leaderpost.com/news/local-news/developer-standing-by-controversial-cathedral-area-proposal

The city is going to take another look at the proposal for 13th and Elphinstone. It sounds like they're going to look at the plan pretty much as it was the first time although the article talks about leaving the house on Elphinstone and easing the parking requirements.

From the article:

Quote:
Kahan, along with others, will present an alternate proposal at a commission meeting on Thursday: That the building be reduced to three storeys; that the house be maintained; that the parking requirements be eased; and that the lot have a couple of car-share spots.
She's got some decent ideas, though I don't see any reason to reduce it to three storeys.

This got me thinking about the proposal a few years back for 13th and Retallack. Anyone know whatever happened to that? I thought they were making some changes to the plan but I never heard about it again.

Do you know if the strip of land north of Parliament Avenue @ Lewvan, which is about to be developed, is zoned (or could be zoned) for a hotel? It would make sense as it would be the nearest hotel to the airport.

But that is not part of Grasslands
