So, you mean to say 546 was NOT responsible for this "garden" concept?

Can someone tell me why for the love of god there's neon pink bike racks going up in the West Exchange. They look ridiculously out of place, especially when the already existing ones are black, and ALL of them in the East Exchange are black as well. I don't understand why there's several different styles in the same area randomly spewed about. Get rid of the old naval looking ones and put in the black circular. Clean and simple.

There was a call out to artists and designers to submit designs for unique bike racks for different areas of the city. So far I've noticed a few around. I don't really care about whether or not they're pink or "match" the area they're in, my problem was that the one I locked my bike on was super awkward and didn't have an obvious space for the u lock.

These are not the same, around Broadway, Portage, and Chinatown there are plenty of artists' ones that fit in the area and have a theme; the new ones in the West Exchange are just the plain rings but painted pink instead of black. Looks bad.

The pink bike racks denote 'bike-friendly' businesses; each of the pink racks signify that the associated business has bike pumps, tire patches, cycling map, etc. inside if you're on a bike and need them.

The program recently expanded to a bunch of businesses in the Exchange. Not the best colour, but meant to be recognizable to cyclists, hence the bright choice of paint.

I would be interested in seeing what the plans are for the Waterfront elevation of the pump house. I hear the space between the new build and the pump house will be a courtyard style hopefully with patios and some type of F&B offering.

I've heard the 4 story building on the east side of the pump house will be on the north half of that space leaving the south area open for a courtyard type thing as you've described.

The 6 story building on the west side is supposed to be detached from the pump house leaving an open area between it and the west side of the pump house. I've also heard there will be below grade parking for the apartment.

Guess we'll know more for sure next week at the latest.

DIMIS info on James Ave closure re: Pumphouse. Love this piece:

"The Urban Forestry Branch of the Public Works Department advises that a mature American elm, 82cm
in diameter, and in good condition with an appraised value of $19,000.00 is located within Parcel “B” of
the closing. A tree of this size and stature is considered to be very important and provides numerous
benefits to the community, even more so considering it is located in the downtown area where it is
difficult to establish trees. Any proposed work that is to occur within close proximity to the tree will need
to incorporate strict tree protection guidelines. The applicant or its assignee will be required to enter
into a conservation easement agreement with the City."
