Still don't get Montreal's addition. The stadium may be intimate, and they may have renovated it - but it's still pretty bare bones and definitely not something that other teams should be aspiring to have (other than size/intimacy)
Yea, it's obvious they're twisting facts and comparisons to suit their argument. If anything, their charts are demonstrating that renovations to McMahon are all that's needed - since they seem to think the renovations at the other stadiums make them provide a "first-class fan experience".

Yupp, it's quite obvious that CSEC isn't doing their homework as good as they should be before releasing things to the world, quite embarrassing for them really, but it also can not be denied that both the Saddledome and McMahon are now quite inferior to most major arenas/stadiums in Canada or the United States.
So whether to build new or renovate will be the debate and part of that will how much of public monies will go into such ventures. No doubt there will be public monies spent, it just can't be helped as there will be some sort of infrastructure deficiencies that will need to be addressed. The question is where the sweet spot will be to satisfy both the public and CSEC - every city on that list has done things in a slightly different way and there probably have been critics and proponents of the final decisions up to and past the point when those renovated or new facilities came to be.
I can't say if Edmonton's solution or Regina's or Toronto's or anyone else's fits Calgary's situation and Calgary could very well have two separate situations to address in possibly unique ways. I would say that solutions have to be found in Calgary as those two aging facilities are most certainly hindering Calgary as a possibility for certain events now and in the future.
