Went over to check the progress of some exterior renovation work being done to the Parkdale house last night & noticed that there certainly is a lot of activity going on in the area

The Parkdale Apartments is fully water sealed and ready for exterior treatment. God help Red Brick if they cheap out on the finishing

The lot across 82st from the Save-On is all fenced and contractor signs up for the new retail development going in.

Just south of that they have finished remediating the NW corner of 112th and 82nd, i understand an 8 story mixed use is planned for that site

The mixed use loft building on 112th and about 89th is fully underway

The new mixed market 6 story development at 83rd and 113th is getting underway

Several new houses and duplexes have broken ground in the vicinity as well

Rumour mill time: Expect a fairly big TOD project to be announced within the next 8 weeks.

Is it a big TOD that's been announced repeatedly over the past decade? Century Park? HolyRood? Strathern? Station Pointe?

Interesting that the triangle at 112 and 82st is getting two separate developments at the same time, and that they might be so different.

In my dreams where I've got untold millions I develop Mid-rise all over that area.

Councillor Scott McKeen will introduce some interactive public art and a social media campaign to encourage public participation in the Imagine Jasper Avenue initiative.

Sure, but how about a little bit of public realm improvements... not the fiasco that is Jasper ave 100st-102st, but we should have come nice new benches and additional landscaping.

No, clearly what we need is stuff like custom light standards that arrive years late & a ton of dubious streetscape "improvements" like around Central Station, the Quarters & 108 Street.

I don't know why City Administration is allergic to the KISS principle.

^ I'd be happy with just a narrower avenue that doesn't make it so easy for drivers to speed and kill people trying to cross it.

The simpler & more minimal we keep the streetscape & sidewalk style the easier it'll be to integrate your much beloved & ballyhooed sidewalk patios, along with minimizing upkeep, construction timelines, possible delays & ongoing costs.

Replace the concrete garbage cans, swap the light standards out for new ones not pockmarked with rust & fix the actual road/sidewalk up & we're good.

^we are on the same page here, simple, but more than just repaving/concrete. It is our MAIN street.

What it really needs is for the curb lane to not be a lane anymore. Some loading bays or taxi stands sure, but mostly make it sidewalk.
