Or 70% of the towers being built in TO that do not get mentioned on sites like this. height is OK but definitely not to Pearls standards. I expect it will change by IFCs.

CNIB is still a long way away until they find the funding. And the Stantec sign will be gone from the Devonian by the time this one gets built.

I'm pretty sure that is how you know it's classy. Extra points if it has "shoppes" or is part of a "towne".

You all need to listen to Brian Lee Crowley's talk on Vancouver's housing issues, Canada's growth and how suburbia across Canada is accelerating and that other than the very middle of urban cores all Canadian cities are 'falling behind'.

The classy signature of Pointe of View (aka, now Carlisle Group).

^ Personally I'm pretty meh about it. Could have been better, sure, but I don't think it will be the worst thing we'll have built by any stretch either.

And if regency is on it, it's likely going to be built. And fast. If they don't get delayed on a glass delivery.

My thoughts exactly. Hence why I've said the design falls short imo. It's far from a disaster and far from raising the bar.

I don't think so.

But, like you, I am not favourable to the podium design being proposed. The Tower is acceptable - and I agree with the majority - the issue is the front retail what is Edmonton's primo street. I would like to think the designer and developer - can still address it - perhaps pulling the retail in to allow patio seating and getting some shelter from the overhanging parkade? Or maybe not - but at least i hope there is a canopy or great facade to mute the visibility and sounds of the parkade.

So who would have guessed even 5 yrs ago that we would be having a 69, 56, 50 and 45 storey (or close to those numbers) tower going up simultaneously?

By 45 you mean Ultima or Emerald? Which is first? - and the other 16 plus months before construction documents ready for a hole I would think. I see Emerald is by DER Architects - a firm that has not to my knowledge designed a single highrise...and that means risk...for potential buyers of condos if its a condo (sales before construction) ... and if its apartments who cares....somebody else's money.

That might explain why they've thrown so many clichés at the design, because they have no typography of their own.

The odd yellow panel sections look terrible. Aside for that it looks like a run of the mill apartment tower
