Bishop Grandin Crossing is being billed as TOD but I think TOD-lite might be a better description... with the proximity to the SWBRT it won't be as transit hostile as many new developments typically are, but it still appears to be fairly car oriented. Yeah, hence the possible TOD lite thing lol. To me TOD would have the station integrated directly into a high density building. But I guess TOD is development surrounding transit corridors. So in the technical sense, yes it may be TOD.

But the damn lakes.. Put another street (or two) and buildings where that lake is, and it becomes better. And put the sidewalks and buildings at the curb already.

I suppose a local transit line could branch off the BRT trunk to run through that area, which would make it a little more TODish.

Pretty sure codes would state for a development like that, and any new development, there must be a way to retain storm water on site.

Haha. On the TOD note. There will be a prime candidate for TOD on the eastern corridor extension. Right downtown behind Shaw Park. Perfect chance to see what Winnipeg can do with TOD. Station could be integrated into a high rise development of some sort, bringing life to the wasteland of parking lots east of the Richardson complex.

They need to shrink those parking spots to 6 feet wide. That way they can park more cars at the bus-stop. Look at all the room there with 8 foot wide spots. The key is to park one side of the car one inch away from the other car.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but the Banana Boat on Osborne will be closing after this weekend, apparently to make way for construction project announced a while back. Sadly, the project was scaled back from this nice initial proposal to something much less interesting, but at least the Banana Boat will apparently be back.
