I'm sorry but Rapid is right, we can yap all we want on this and other online forums but if we really want to exercise our rights as citizens of this City then attend the public meeting, write to Sustainable Development and contact the mayor and councillors. Otherwise, yes, the 'chat' more or less is meaningless.

it might have something to do with the actual circulation this has been given or not given.

as best i can determine, we never received one. which is fair enough - we're not entitled to receive one - rezoning applications only require notice to property owners within 60 metres and we're outside that.

there is a public hearing scheduled but i'm not sure if that's a result of the rezoning - where a public hearing is actually optional - or the arp amendment for queen mary/mccauley which would have may have gone out to everyone in queen mary/mccauley or possibly just to their community league. i'm pretty sure that it didn't go out to everyone downtown.

the attendance - or lack thereof - and the media interest - or lack thereof - on monday may come as much from a lack of knowledge or appreciation of the impact than support for the application.

maybe it's a reflection of our age but it's that kind of trite, condescending treatment of everything you don't agree with regardless of any inconsistencies behind what you agree with or don't from one day to the next that make 240glt and i start to wonder why we care so much about what we turn over for the next generation when the next generation doesn't seem to as long as they get enough patios and resto-bars and interviews.

While I generally try to stay out of this, to be fair, "your side" of these squabbles is no less guilty of being incredibly condescending. This post included.
