Thank you, I don't feel there are enough photos from west dallas towards downtown and uptown, which is where you can see a vast majority of the new and existing developments creating truly impressive view.

The view from West Dallas is the best. I hate that view we are always stuck with from the SE.

Park District and the LPC building are starting to rise quickly as well!
I think it will be a while before we see M Line tower come out of the huge hole they dug in the ground. It will be exciting to watch other towers going up as well.

Nice. I can't wait for that eastern end of downtown to start building up. It's so depressing looking from the air. From the ground, people usually don't make it over there to even notice.

Fountain Place is building a parking garage there. The other surface lot on the North side of Fountain Place is being looked at for a 40 story Amli apartment tower, but that isn't a sure thing at this point.

Many of those empty lots over there are part of the (probably not happening anytime soon) Spire development. It'd be so nice if the owners of all the empty lots (the ones Headington owns too) would get going on these developments but it's apparently going to take a lot more time.

Uncertainty regarding I-345's future also comes into play.

TxDOT now supports demolishing I-345 in the future.

The Texas Department of Transportation released a report Friday that lays out several scenarios for minimizing congestion on the noose of aging highways that chokes off urban neighborhoods from the Central Business District.

One of the most dramatic options is tearing out Interstate 345, the elevated highway that connects Central Expressway and Interstate 45 between downtown and Deep Ellum. Another is moving a large stretch of Interstate 30 east of downtown that barrels its way over streets and neighborhoods to a new route south of Fair Park.

“It’s unprecedented,” said Matt Tranchin, executive director of Coalition for a New Dallas, a political action committee that supports I-345’s removal.

Officials and consultants who worked on the study say the time has come to rethink how congestion mitigation is approached for another reason: Highway expansions only beget more traffic.

New apartment tower east of downtown Dallas will include Tom Thumb grocery store

A new grocery store and apartment tower planned on downtown Dallas’ near east side will bring Uptown-style development to the neighborhood.

North Carolina-based Greystar Real Estate Partners will build the 10-story high-rise at Live Oak and Texas streets, a block from DART’s commuter rail line.

A full-service Tom Thumb supermarket will be on the ground floor of the new building, which is part of Greystar’s City Lights development.

“We think that the grocery store could serve as an anchor tenant to bring other retail to the area,” Sparks said. “It will serve the east side of downtown, Deep Ellum and the Baylor hospital district.”

The Tom Thumb – which will have its entrance at the corner of Live Oak and Texas – will be served by an underground parking garage.

There will be 365 apartments above the grocer, with a separate garage.

Two large terraces for the apartment residents will overlook Live Oak and have views of downtown.

Sparks said Greystar plans to break ground on the project later this year and will deliver the building in 2018.

How $36M of TIF funds will shape Beck's $4B Dallas Midtown vision

Next week could be big for the Beck family, as the city's economic development committee and the Dallas city council vote on $36 million of tax increment financing funds for the initial phase of the family's $4 billion Dallas Midtown mixed-use development.

This is precisely what the economic development committee and city council members have put in place, which is we will front the money to build public infrastructure and get a rebate on taxes back to pay for that infrastructure," Scott Beck, who is overseeing the development on behalf of Beck Ventures, told the Dallas Business Journal.

"I would be shocked if it didn't pass," he added.

Beck has been working alongside Hillwood Urban on that group's plans to build a multi-tenant office building and couldn't be more pleased with the developer's plans.

"We are waiting with bated breath for next week to get over this hurdle and take us to the next step," Beck said. "We've got to get these pieces done before the fun stuff can begin bringing in retailers, office users and all those things."
