And what is going on at Mayfair? Is that the new Macdonald Youth Services building going up? So far it's just a mud hole in the ground.

Looks like a construction site there too.

I think Women's Hospital is still technically UC. It is pretty much done. When is it expected to open?

Not to belabour this discussion but I'm curious what this means.

I don't think the neighbourhood really cares what the building looks like. It's all about it being the first commercial domino. I can understand that. I personally like the old house a lot, but I also understand change is destined to happen on that stretch of the five lane stroad.

It's still about a year away I think. Its extremely complex on the interior. Lots of equipment to make work. I can't wait to see the crazy stair in the atrium.

Club Regent has been U/C for many months. Looks like it should be nearing completion soon. They basically bought up and demod everything that was along Regent except for the MTS shack and the Honda Dealership. Large parking lot and orange coioured building exterior.

While we're on the subject, McPhillips Station Casino has a major project underway, although I think it's more of a makeover (new facade) than the expansion Club Regent is getting. That's in addition to the planned new hotel which is mentioned in the rundown on page 1.

Club Regent expansion is U/C...most of the work right now is on the north side of the complex...best seen from the Transcona trail.

I'm fine with the Recommended design, although the most costly I'll gather, Is it cost efficient for a Winter City like Winnipeg? Should we dedicate a full lane to this project is the actual question...

Of course we are also talking about Fort St, Donald and Smith as well as Garry for similar future considerations.

Fort and Garry are both really underutilized, there's hardly any traffic on them. Taking a lane won't hurt anything. Also the whole "but we're a winter city" argument is pretty old. Montreal and Minneapolis aren't exactly tropical and they're some of the best cycling cities around. And actually, as far as winter cyclists are concerned, having snow and ice is that much more reason to have a protected lane.

Was coming to post something similar. Traffic should be unaffected, as traffic on Garry is quite low (via eye test over the past few years).
