However I have always liked the look of the A343, but the A345 with the larger engines and its proportions just looked great in my eyes.

The A330 in general doesn't have the reputation of a fast climber. We see them a lot here in YUL and the performance is average, even on the A332. Now the A310 or MD11 on the other hand, oh yes !

Yup.

If by next year, the A343 is using half of runway 29 to takeoff, you'll know the plane is empty !

332 does well in comparison to 333 for the reason I stated, and that's the only argument I was making - KL's performance at YYC is evidence of that. 332 decent at high altitude as well.

Cute. I like the roof over the driver compartment. A necessary feature to keep the driver dry, in case the sprinklers go off.

I was passing through about a week ago. Arrived in the main air Canada pier and had to walk over to the middle peer to catch the outbound to Toronto. The Narita flight was boarding at the next gate at the same time. Crowded little corner. Anyway, walking through the two peer there was a normal walkway area, a moving walkway and the track for the cute little cars. Some good options.

Also, they have publicly put the YYC-YXC route on notice due to low numbers.

Yeah... News has been a bit slow lately. Integra has certainly been trying new routes lately. Bad timing I suppose.

The post was aimed more at their public announcement in red... WARNING WARNING! And with "heavy hearts" even.... never really seen anything like that published in a public domain before. Usually those types of comments are kept internal.

Pax numbers fell 2.2% in April 2016 compared to April 2015.

Transborder got smashed, while International did very well.

Overall down 2.2% (down 27,135) to 1,198,576. YTD up 1.25%.
Domestic down 0.9% (down 7,867) to 836,559. YTD up 3.09%
Transborder down 11.8% (down 29,860) to 222,245. YTD down 7.90%
International up 8.2% (up 10,592) to 139,772. YTD up 7.72%

Still up overall for the year at least. Transborder has fallen below 3 million again for the rolling 12 month period. Most likely will stay below 3 million for the year at this rate.

YYC removed the April stats a few days after posting, and still haven't reposted... I wonder what's up?

HU111 - Hainan test flight arrives tomorrow (Wednesday) at 0845, said to be staff only. First flight on June 30, anticipated to be full flights through the summer.

ITD (international to domestic) trials have expanded to Westjet flights (currently only one). Now includes AC845 and many US origin flights.

Calgary Airport has been busy getting ready for Hainan's launch. Among other things this includes Chinese language announcements in Concourse A and getting concessionaires ready to accept UnionPay. I have also noticed an increase in Hainan billboards around town last few days, swear I drove past 3 of them just yesterday.

I will be coming back to Calgary in the spring for my brother's wedding - I may have to give the new Hainan Airlines flight a try just to show support for a direct China-Calgary flight, even if it is a bit less convenient than flying PVG-YVR-YYC.

I honestly don't think it is. After 12 years of working for airlines in North America and Europe, I've never heard of anyone doing a test flight prior to starting a new destination... only test flights prior to introducing a new type.

Years ago when Japan Airlines and Korean did the summer charter flights I recall Japan Airlines sending a 744 here on a test flight in the winter, I'm thinking February.
