Actually it appears that those Victorian row houses are torn down in the proposal, which I'm sure will cause some debate at council.

Always was part of the phase one plans. Just had to wait for Greyhound's lease to run its course.

It's good to hear the Victorian homes will be incorporated into the London proposal.

As for Ottawa, that 'thing' they are proposing on St.Charles, is horrid looking. If that thing gets built Longueil's Clock Tower preeminence in the Ugly Canada thread is going to be under serious attack.

It's almost like NF is stuck in the 90's. This is not how you build an urban centre unless your idea of an urban centre is Like Mississauga's centred around a mall.

Lifestyle centre is the design they are going for. Think Don Mills redevelopment. It's been big in the US retail world for the past 15-20 years. Giving the feel of a pedestrian mainstreet, with the convenience of ample parking on the perimeter, surrounded by arterial roads.

Those fake pedestrian 'main streets' are tacky kitcsch I don't want to see repeated. The US can keep them. Can NF not build real high streets?

Keep it real. The alternative would more likely be a big-box "power centre".

Just to bring it back to the Niagara Falls proposal...

I find it funny that it was catching some heat on another thread and then it comes swinging back with a decent redevelopment plan. Good job Niagara Falls!

I dunno, for a new suburban development it doesn't seem that bad at all. Pretty good if you ask me actually (and I am a planner haha).
