Any idea what the sunken area to the east will be? I can't make it out on the map. It currently resemble some sort of drainage pond.

Yes storm water retention. The City requires these everywhere now. It modulates the load on the system during extraordinary rain events.

I think this is a good idea, considering the rain events we've had in the last few years but I can't think of a similar sized pond in a similar development. All that comes to mind is the massive one West of Home Depot.

The one on Pasqua/Parliament is quite large as well as the one in Albert Park which is hidden among the houses (New Albert Park). I saw it filling up with the large rains in July the one year.

They are all over the place, they just aren't noticed. Some others include Broadway Ave soccer field, 11th Ave and Montreal - giant tank under the park, Southland Mall next to Chapters, between the Co-operator Centre and the fire hall, at the GTH. I am sure there are many more. All new subdivisions must have them unless they are adjacent to a creek. Plus all the neighbourhood lakes serve the same purpose.

The Canadian Brewhouse is pretty underwhelming. So small compared to most of them I've seen.

It appears that the patio for Canadian Brewhouse is actually on the roof of the building.

Oh yeah, there were a bunch of cranes there before I left. One of the cranes is rated at 1200-1500 [short] tons!

In the winter, sometimes I'll see kids tobogganning on the slopes at the Chapters location whenever I pass by.

I'm still not clear who is paying for this new facility for Soul's Harbour. The link from the article has a 250K goal for donations. I really hope they aren't expecting a large city gift on this one.

Souls Harbour director of operations Michael Towers says the energy-conscious building will feature a daycare, a homeless shelter which is double the size of its current one, along with affordable housing.

Cost for the project is around 6 to 7 million dollars with the plan for it to be open in July of 2018.

I noticed brush clearing and a lot of surveying stakes on the old rail right of way that runs from the firehall on Vic and Arcola to Winnipeg St. This is the route for the Sask Dr. realignment that is not supposed to be started for many years. Does anyone know what is happening?

They also own all the required property for the Sask Drive widening from Broad to Winnipeg. Perhaps the city is pushing it forward sooner than originally planned to get in on some od the infrastructure dollars the federal government is putting up?
