As you may expect, T4 will be a rental building. No Chinese would be buying in unlucky Tower "4".

Interesting.

There will be sizeable rental components in Towers 1 and 2 as well from what I recall.

Does Tower 3 have any rental?

Condominiums Climbing Amid Burnaby Shopping Centre Overhaul

Quote:
The complex will be connected with a network of retail-lined roads and pedestrian-friendly routes. Brentwood Boulevard's 22 retailers and patio spaces will guarantee high foot traffic through all seasons, while the open-air central plaza mixes fashion brands with more patios, pubs, and casual dining choices. These multi-level outlets will be crowned by lush garden rooftops. The SkyTrain will also be fully integrated with the new neighbourhood, making it easy to get around the city.

Chinese people are like the rest of us. The proportions are always somewhat different from group to group (racial, national, sexual, economic, etc.) but there is always a mix. There are many 'old world' superstitious types, but there are many normal-western cultured Chinese (the guy who is just like you but his family comes from a different world . . . could be Italian, Indian, Australian, whatever) who would have no trouble buying unit four, fourth floor, tower four. Now, I doubt you were being racist, but innocuous little statements/assumptions are what greases the rails.

I am not racist, I am Asian so I know exactly what's up. I would be reluctant to buy in Tower 4, simply because of the number 4. If I could, I'd always try to avoid number 4, 13 and 666. Knowing Shape Properties, if they are not going to be able to sell the condos for top dollars, they would rather manage them and profit from rental income (plus management fees, if the building was to be sold to the Ontario teacher pension fund).

It's not just Asians either, westerners would likely be less inclined to purchase in the building knowing the number would impact their ability to resell and the resale value.

Superstitions are silly but they can have very tangible impacts.

Yeah it's common enough that people bring it up - we're well aware it's not true of everyone. I don't care one way or other about 4 (I'm not Asian) and I like the number 13. I found it funny hearing how people buying groceries would grab something else to change the amount if their bill came to some version of 666.

The view from the concourse and the top of the steps is getting closed in now but you can still get a look at the lower levels.

thank you mcminsen for the amazing pics. The web cam alone is not enough to provide a comprehensive view. Your pic captures different angles.
I dont see any excavation for T3 yet. Anybody know what is the expected completion date for T3 ??

Community center sized pools? I don't know about Asia, but a pool that size definitely is not common in europe.

Great pics mcminsen!

Looks like the civic plaza has pretty much achieved it's final height just about level with the skytrain station.

Six levels of parking will mean lots of driving to get to the bottom. At One Wall Centre we were at P4/P5 and it took 19 turns from the street to our lit.

Allow 6 to 8 minutes to get to street level if you park at P6. I hope most people use public transit to go to work or school. Leave driving on weekends when you not in a rush.
