The building may not be economically salvageable. It is currently not inhabitable due to the disrepair it was left in by the previous tenants/owners.

Looking imposing so far. I like it but lots still to be determined.

Thanks, I was wondering if the protrusion above the yellow trailer was for the first angled floor.

How much (expletive) demand for public storage is there in the city?

Crazy eh? You buy so much shit you don't even use, you need to pay to store it somewhere else?!

This is pretty close to the downtown area though, which probably has the most need for storage. The old storage place at Richards and Pacific closed a few years back to make way for development, I wonder where those customers went?

There's got to be a better use for this land... storage on the waterfront?

Strathcona Village (which was a huge success) is only a couple blocks away and farther away from the water.

Public hearing descends into chaos at Vancouver city hall
Status of proposed rental project on Commercial Drive in doubt after councillors walk out of public hearing Tuesday night.

Contributed/City of Vancouver The proposed massing at a development at Commercial Drive and 18th Avenue in Vancouver.

Metro Published on Wed May 25 2016

The fate of a controversial rental project in east Vancouver remains unclear after Non-Partisan Association and Green Party councilors walked out of a public meeting in protest Tuesday night.

NPA councillors Elizabeth Ball, George Affleck and Melissa De Genova, along with Green Party Coun. Adrienne Carr, took the unprecedented step after accusing the hearing chair, Vision Vancouver Coun. Raymond Louie, of unfair treatment while debating the proposed 110-unit Cressey development at Commercial Drive and 18th Avenue.

Such nonsense over a straightforward and reasonable densification (albeit smaller then I would still prefer) They even saved an old house that they have no obligation to do so. Take what you can get people, it could easily be alot worse in any other city outside of entitled Vancouver. They could build a single micro suite building covering the entire site but opted for a reasonable approach.

The outrage by the councillors wasn't over the densification it was by the proceedings and frustration about how the meeting was being run.

i.e. politicians being politicians
The pissing match is more important than the substantive business at hand...

No kidding. They actually had enough opposition votes to reject this proposal and instead they stormed out like babies.

While that's true; they never stated what the councilors who walked out wanted and requested. What isn't mentioned in this story is how much neighborhood backlash there has been and i feel that is likely the issue that was so contentious and the others didn't want to hear so they shut them out (bad idea) but they could have been bringing up the same old tired 'too big too dense' argument without any reasonable solution other then to keep SFH on that land. It was likely spinning in circles for hours with neither side budging. As officedweller said "politicians being politicians".
