Yeah, but that would require work on my part.

I actually personally don't care. I like having it in one thread - I'm just saying that as a result of a previous implication that not as much is going on here.

Really. We are going to start threads for every four storey condo? Gonna have a lot of very short threads.

I think it works fine. Threads for major projects that take a long time to complete and create a lot of discussion...this thread a catch all for everything else that warrants less discussion.

I was being a bit tongue in cheek. I don't actually want it to be that way.

If that's true, then that's amazing. That was a huge amount of space to fill in a big but fairly humdrum building which has been mostly vacant for the last 4 years. That'll have a big impact on the office vacancy rate and it'll probably inject some more life to the streets of the area.

Any word on who the tenant(s) are?
I think I remember hearing that Shaw was moving some technical call centre positions there. I might have heard it on this forum, I can't remember much these days.

Shaw has 2 offices in Winnipeg, Scurfield and Fultz (which is off Scurfield). Nothing downtown. (I work there)

To answer cyro's question, I think any development is fair game for a new thread but some are obviously of more interest than others. Something like We Lofts is definitely fair game for a new thread.
Can't hurt, I'd like to see it..

We Lofts may be one that someone could start..

Every project is fair game, although no hard and set rules will be implemented.

Yes, as long as threads are formatted within the guidelines of SSP and still subject to moderation, duplication of similar content in multiple threads happens here on a regular basis

Agree that there are many threads that are off-topic/chatty. It really comes down to posters taking the time to find the topic related thread, this doesn't always happen here. But more project related threads would be a welcome change.

I don't think it's necessary for every project as well. As long as posters take the time to find the specific thread when it's availble, not throw every thing into the Construction thread. Some order, rhyme and reason is needed.

Nothing is taking place as of yet. Not sure how sales have been progressing, if at all. I would imagine it would be a tough sell for condos of that nature/price point in that location

Cursory Glance: there's aprx: 55+ threads on the main page/aprx: 40 are Winnipeg specific, 5 are dual Man/Sask, leaving aprx: 10 Sask specific threads.
Proposed? No

Being built? Yes

I'll tend to agree it might be a bit much to have a thread for every condo project. There's probably 50 (guessing, but it's not a small number) under construction spread throughout the City right now. Crappy 4 storey stick framed dumps. You wake up to your neighbour taking a shit at 4:00am, literally hearing shit hit the toilet.

So where do you draw the line? There's a 20 storey apartment building going up on north Henderson right now but there's no thread for that one. If there's something cool or trendy about a project, than maybe. Otherwise I think we're doing good with the various neighbourhood threads. If there's a condo project in the exchange you fancy, post it in that thread. There's one in the village, post it in that thread.

^ I can live with that compromise. Neighborhood threads for small unremarkable projects, standalone threads for substantial projects or ones that are noteworthy for some other reason (e.g. the flying saucer condos).

Large number, wasn't aware of it.
Sounds unpleasant. Reminds me of all the stick frame apt.'s I lived in during my twenties, some are actually condos now.. I see it more as the move away, from carpets. Everyone wants hardwood or a facsimile of it. But wood frame vs. concrete does cause noise issues, irregardless.

Wasn't aware of the 20 storey build, by all means start the thread.
When it comes to neighborhood threads for projects, I believe it's the best way to cover some of the smaller builds, similar to esquire's response below.

One thread for all of these low-rise construction projects might be nice. With all current builds listed on page 1 and updated as they're approved for construction or completed.

^ Good idea, how about one catch-all thread for the wood frame low rise dumps where you can hear your neighbour defecating?

I'd call it The Official Bomberjet Crappy 4 Storey or Less Stick Framed Dump Thread.

Of course, if someone builds a particularly noteworthy 4 storey or less stick framed dump, we could always set up a special thread just for that project.

^ Oh, I believe it. I've stayed in some small town Super 8 type places that are built the same way, and where you can hear way too much from neighbouring bathrooms.

That's what Winnipeg Construction thread is. If we start doing that we will reached Winnipeg construction XXV in year 2050 and Regina/Saskatoon thread will be on their XXX's.

Easily the winner of 'best post of the day'.

Sorry I should have been more clear. Proposed projects that are large scale in nature certainly deserve their own thread (i.e Sky City, 360 Main, etc.) but something such as the 4 story proposed condos that keep being brought up may not warrant their own.
