I doubt it will. They appear to be moving at a good pace and are pretty far along in the pre-work (e.g. digging and electrical conduits and rebar columns already above ground). What do you think?

Part of me is now kinda curious how they're going to deal with:

1 - The power rails will now be directly below the new platform.

2 - How they will deal with people jumping from platform to platform. Sure, there's still the IR curtains but it's not like elsewhere where there's either a dividing fence or you have to jump back again.

They have plastic covers above each power rail at Broadway inbound, rather than just a single cover along the whole platform.

Right now it's still got the pressure plate system, but they're supposed to be retrofitting all the Expo line stations with the laser-based detectors used elsewhere on the system (as per the recommendations from the SkyTrain outages). Those wouldn't detect someone jumping from platform to platform though.

People have jumped platform-guideway-platform before (Sapperton and Brentwood once each is all I remember.) It's rare enough though it'd just be an isolated incident.

It may not even interrupt trains. IIRC the guy running from the transit police at Sapperton jumped to the guideway and the other side without stopping anything, and was met by taser shots after he ran up the escalator on the other side.

How did they handle the power rail and other issues when they had dual platforms at New Westminster? I remember taking Skytrain back then as a kid.

Can't find the photo showing both platforms being used to loading. (the TTC RT has it though).

Sweet! thanks for that. I love the tree like roof support columns. Hopefully the renovation and additional platform will be done to the west side of the station in the near future. The station will look very sharp when all is said and done!

It might be easier to see how Kennedy Station did it when they abandoned the loop and expanded out the platform. You can clearly see it actually does just sit directly under the platform.

Metrotown station emergency exit staircase have been fenced off.
The temporary staircase seems to be opened.

Some progress are made. The emergency stair case has been removed.
The new west station house foundation construction is in full swing. From what I can see, I think the foundation is at least 50% completed.

Ha, I like how it's easier to put up the roof before you build the floor. Makes sense.

But is the trellis going to support the existing roof trusses just like that? Or do they have to do way more work there? It just seems like it will be a challenge to take down that wall because it is holding up the existing roof of the station.

But anyway, I love the trellis look. I wish it was the official design of new stations on new lines going forward.

Thanks - looks great.

The space frame will affix to the west edge of the lattice (the overhang has triangular shapes to match the space frame).

I think that's why the lattice forms the east wall - it ties the roof down to the concrete beam below (resisting the weight of the space frame on the other side).

Couple of observations:
- wondering why the column closest to Broadway doesn't reach ground (is it temporary or for openness?)
- I guess the red column is a design feature?

I love the new trellis at Broadway. I wish they'd remove the old roof, though. I looks horrible.

I can't see anything obvious in the plans. I thought it might be for the bike room but that's supposed to be near the current entrance (and underneath the station vs next door to it). TransLink's (admittedly old) info boards don't show anything, and neither does Via Architecture. Hmm maybe it's for public art...
