The new glass around the pool is barely discernible from across the street. There is no glass in front of the Telus sign but there is glass at either end.

that's good, it should be invisible. its sad we even need glass around it in the first place. if they are stupid enough to walk into a pool of water, let them.

Lol at all the moaning about the colour of the glass and other nonsensical nittery.

Somehow it didn't prevent Telus Garden from picking up an international award from Architizer in the Office – High Rise 16+ Floors category. The project was awarded top place from the jury and also in the people's choice voting.

Pretty fortunate for Henriquez and Westbank that the wise ones in the thread didn't tip off the jury and voters as to how bad the project is by providing a link to the skyscraper.com site.

Seafoam glass and spandrel are quite uncommon in other parts of the world, so when the Telus Garden project is viewed from elsewhere, it would appear to be rather exotic.

Only Metro Vancouver folks hate the seafoam thinghy having seen it virtually everywhere in town.

Besides, I think most people here are agreeable with the office tower glass colour, but have gripes regarding the residential tower. I wonder if the award from Architizer includes the residential portion as well. I kinda doubt it since it is still under construction.

More of those frame things on Richards Street. I've been looking but I can't figure out what they are for or where they're getting installed.

From the photos for the project it looks like they awarded it because of the entrance.

And it's better than this? Sure the base looks like a hideous mess but ignore that.

I think most of the complaints are about the residential, so ok, the office won an award. That has nothing to do with the residential portion...

The buildings and built form around that tower is unbelievably drab and depressing.

Wow is right. I stayed confident that this is what they were planning with those edges. The same thing will happen with the edges on the podium.

Through this testing phase I expect that the new lights will be extra bright and then they will be toned down later, like what happened with the edge lighting on the office tower.

This was a total surprise to me and I just about jumped out of my skin when I went to investigate the mysterious glow lighting up my blinds.

Looks great. All the panels will be lit eventually though?

Yes, I'm pretty sure. This is like the way they started testing the edge lighting on the office tower.

Awesome.
I saw it driving north over the Cambie Bridge - very prominent.
Just hope the strata corp maintains it over time.

PS - I saw the screen playing a movie the other night - prehistoric trilobites or something. Looked pretty underwhelming.

I guess it didn't help that they had it on ALL night...

PS - the pond by the elevator on Georgia now has fountain heads installed
- so when it's refilled, expect small gurgly fountains.
