Hmmm, I don't see any lighting in that open section.

Better with patterned stamped asphalt than just ordinary asphalt paving though.
I'm still bitter we lost out on the warm coloured stone panels that were supposed to be a major design element of the tower and podium in the original renders. You can still see one of the renders in the thread title box at the top of the page. In contrast with the original white and grey trim it would have been a nice clean and tidy break from the usual architectural junk we get. Now it's just a seafoam, cheap looking mess. I'm hoping we get some buildings built with some dark brown or bronze coloured windows again. enough of the cold blue/green/grey colour palates we have had in the past 2 decades.

First occupants to move in in about 2 weeks

Just spoke to someone at Westbank and they have put a stop to the assignments of contact in the building as it is now so close to completion. First home owners are likely to be moving in within the next few weeks or so. There are likely to be quite a few listings on the market after that and I will try and post some interior and exterior pictures from the untis!

I totally feel ya! Been lamenting the day I saw that seafoam slab. Hope the developers get criticized by buyers for that. False advertisement should be considered illegal no matter the fine prints.

Did a walk thru today with the team behind the project. A few tidbits while I still remember them. The wooden arches and glass canopy cost ~$8M. There are over 200 glass tiles, made in Spain and each one different, there are 15 hidden butterflies in the pattern. That canopy along with the gutters on the solar panels on the roof capture enough rain water in a cistern in the basement to take care of the landscaping needs and most of the toilets. There are 288 panels on the roof, they supply 3% of the buildings electrical needs, enough to cover all the external building lighting. The Alley once it opens will be the centre peice of the project.

Sorry for the bad quality on the pics, only had my Blackberry with me.

Great photos, jlousa! Did they mention anything about the screen on top of the building?

I was really in to the colours of TG when it was proposed too. The tones were such a nice change of pace colour-wise. When the seafoam green panels started to go up, I wasn't surprised. This isn't the first building to advertise one colour only to change it to seafoam green, and it won't be the last.

Over the years, I've learned to loathe that colour.

I honestly thought HIllary was the last person on the planet to use one of those!

Anyway, thanks for the pictures.

I have a BlackBerry too - I need the keyboard
(i.e. business e-mails can be long and need proper punctuation and formatting)

*********

Noticed that they've removed the glass around the elevator pond and are painting the steel black?) behind where the glass was installed.

Glass is being installed around the tower lobby pond.

Seems like a big make work project.
Yesterday I saw a cluster of 4 or 5 guys standing near the pons discussing the work.

That's what I have a laptop for. If I'm going to spend more than 5 minutes writing an email, might as well take out the laptop that I have with me 99.9% of the time.

I don't carry a laptop around - usually do work at the office since I've got the 2 screens (one full page vertical) and it's easy to open multiple documents.

But I once found myself standing against a wall at the Las Vegas outlets for over an hour reviewing an agreement on the BlackBerry and sending a lengthy e-mail in reply.

... plus all the replies on the morning walk in to work.

yeah it's migraine city for me if i have to type out anything longer then a text on my phone, I gave up posting on this forum using my tablet because it just doesn't have the same ease of finding pics and references for things and switching tabs that go inactive if left for too long on the tablet browsers drives me nuts.

O.T., but talk-to-text on the iPhone is just killer. You can dictate punctuation and the iPhone's pretty darn good at catching it. Gotta read what it spits out, obviously, but it's a great time-saver.

I have the same setup, but one screen is my laptop and the other on my desk. I tried the vertical setup, but I just couldn't get used to it.

I couldn't do that. I'd take out my MB Air instead of killing my eyes reading on a small screen. (I sound old!)

I've been wondering when those scraggly horse tail plants would start growing and looking better and was pleased to see recently that there are lots of sprouts coming up.

I wonder if they'll raise or replace the TELUS sign to be above the glass barrier?

Maybe the frames could be for a living plant wall?

The horsetails remind me of this PriceTags post - but I think these plants at UBC are papyrus, not horsetails:

Re: the Telus sign, I was looking at it today along Georgia Street and noticed that the glass panels had been installed around that pool but not in front of the sign. The gap seemed to be symmetrical so I'm thinking they might leave it that way.

The sprouts coming up in the Telus Plaza planters look similar to these (see pic below). I took this pic a few years ago down near Still Creek between Real Canadian Superstore and Walmart.
