Sure hope so as well. I firmly believe we will need another major hotel in that area and to serve the recently expanded Convention Centre. Also, Place Louis Riel converting to apartments will eventually lea 314 rooms open so another hotel would easily be able to absorb that. Sutton Place only adds 275 rooms.
A 30+ tower with hotel and mixed use would be ideal.
I think between all things announced downtown lately and especially 300 Main St and Skycity that area is beyond ripe for Development.
I hope to see 31 + floors instead of 29?

Keep in mind that Artis is looking to develop a hotel on the same corner. Those folks don't fool around either. Is there a market for two?

Creswin isn't involved in the property any more. The Asper family sold it to Harvard in 2014.

I don't think that there would be a need for Geotechnical work to be done for a kiosk. Hopefully this is a continuation of the slew of announcements we've been having.

Also could someone put some pictures of the fencing and equipment up to give us all an idea of what could be going on with the place.

I admit I'm not familiar with how that sort of thing works, but isn't it odd that Harvard would be doing its own geotechnical work so soon after Creswin did its own? Or is the work customized to the type of project that the developer envisions?

I noticed the fencing on Thursday after work when I walked past. Could it be related to the Palomino Club going into the Whiskey Dix building, like a back patio area or something?

I know this comment isn't overly helpful, but I'm not surprised that Harvard is doing something on this lot. I was told last summer by someone "in the know" to expect something soon. It sounded to my like they were planning on moving forward with something similar to Creswin's original plan. (I know how stupid this sounds, I just thought it provides a tiny bit of context)

So maybe it was an Easter egg in that Artis Reit video after all?

Very interesting. I wonder if a scaled down version of Creswin's project might be more feasible? Creswin was aiming for the stars with their highrise hotel project (were there condos too? I can't remember)... maybe instead of a towering Le Meridien, a 15 storey Westin or some such might make more sense.

As long as whatever gets built takes up the entire vacant lot (no parks/greenspaces please) and presents a better face to the sidewalk than other P&M buildings do, I'll be happy.
