Also...looking at this close up the other day. If someone still wants to end it they can. Its just going to take a bit more effort!! Should have put the money towards mental health education.

It's too bad... are there any bridges that are somewhat pleasant for pedestrians to cross the river in the central part of the city?

- Cloverdale Footbridge is closing soon
- Low Level? Nope. James MacDonald? Nope.
- Waterdale? Maybe the new one will be.
- High Level? Not anymore - it feels very depressing now.
- The pedestrian bridge under the LRT bridge has some nice views but is very "cold".

The east side of the Low Level Bridge is actually quite nice since they revamped the NB bridge a few years ago, it's now a wider and paved multi-use path, probably wider than the HLB. Walk north and you get great views of the Hotel Mac and the skyline behind it. The west side is still a narrow wooden path and should be avoided, plus the west side bridge needs to be redone.

Is it much different? Didn't feel like it walking it. Have not biked yet, but was surprised how it felt less enclosed than I thought it would.

It's probably 10 inches narrower. This is such a hamfisted implementation .
That and you could probably drive a truck at the damn things, why did they need an 8 inch post that are like five feet apart. The thing needs to hold 250lbs, not 2500lbs.

The whole thing is ridiculous, especially because there is a whole other deck that isn't exactly difficult to get to.

I had assumed the concerns were a bit over the top, but cycling accross the bridge a week or two ago I was actually suprised how squeezed it felt, especially passing others while in on the barrier side of the path - felt like I was going to clip my shoulders on the barrier posts.

Not the end of the world, but certainly makes the crossing much less comfortable on a bike, expecially the east side which already felt a bit narrow. Unlike most shared use paths the bridge crossings don't have the same clear space on either side and you essentially loose some of the pathway as a buffer between vertical obstructions on either side. The degree to which these barriers bring those obstructions into the path is quite unfortunate.

Perhaps a solution could be to change each bike path from 2-directional to 1-directional in opposite directions to avoid the feeling of being squeezed.

Problem is access at either side.. Makes people cross several really ugly intersections to get to one side from the other

As noted, the access and either end of the bridge really 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 if you are on one side and want to go N or S, and would have to get to the other side of the bridge to make it work.

Final concrete pouring for Fox2 podium was completed this past Saturday. They've already set up a bit of a laydown yard on the East portion of the podium roof, the tower is pushed further West on the podium compared to Fox1. This should start rising fairly quick!!
