Great to see Winnipeg getting a couple of new talls . I really liked my visit to the city , thought the downtown was quite charming with the old mixed in with newer , now with some real modern towers it will be even better.

No, It just makes it easier preparing for a large multi-post of images, links and information when needed. Similar to me working offline on a website for hours and uploading it instantly when needed live.

Anyway, any poster can create the thread. I brought it up to see if anyone was interested.

With that said, when the thread reaches 10,000 replies, or shortly after, the poster available and is online at the time will create it. If no poster creates the thread at that point a moderator will start it when available.

Any other questions, please feel free to PM me or another mod.

I like that they're "vary" big...but I don't know if I would like them with the welding "spater" on them.

What are some thoughts on wood panel cladding? I think it can look beautiful, and it is definitely warm and inviting. I would love to see some buildings around downtown Winnipeg adorned with it.

Most modern small scale buildilngs have are clad in wood.

My favourite example is the new Winnipeg Humane Society building on Wilkes.

The Carpathia Credit Union on Grant Ave. near Waverley. I like the cladding on it.

I know there's another one, but I can't remember it at the time.

For other cladding materials...that rusted metal done to the Place Louis Riel at first looks nice, but I'm sure after a few more years it's gonna look really old.

I noticed the UFO seems to have stalled?? Doesn't look like much has happened there in a while.

I bring that up on the rust comment. Looks like whatever material is installed on the UFO, below the lower level windows, is rusting. Tyvek is blowing in the wind, that sort of thing.

Separate, I love the exposed timber and wood being used. I really like that, when the actual structure is timber and black steel.

that new subsidized housing building on Sherbrook has a great wood/shiny metal thing going on for it. every urban street in town could use a few buildings of this scale and design.
