Wouldn't the magical Uniqlo fit in this building? I have always wondered why there is so much vacant retail space along Granville south of Robson, as the location is very central and busy. An anchor tenant on this stretch would really help to revitalize the area.

Doubt that Uniqlo would risk being such a trail-blazer, for their first Vancouver location I'd guess they'd want to be as central and visible as possible.

IMO the Granville 7 ( Empire Theatre ) project must go-ahead before anything south of Robson revitalizes, that large vacant stretch gives the whole area a seedy down-market feel. I hope something happens soon.

Thanks.

Here's the leasing plan for the Richmond location - at "Central at Garden City" - the Wal-Mart plaza at Garden City Way & Alderbridge:

I thought that was going to be a Five Guys? Or is that in another space?

Pics by me yesterday:

SportChek has installed a big curving canopy at the new location (former Chapters)
which matches the oval entance at Metrotown - but seems to cut the big angled cube in half.

Looks like they've also added black glass panels to the columns.

Making a quick check of why those ultra-low density CRUs on Deman at Nelson are having a hard time leasing out (all except for 2 units taken by Bosley pet supply store):

Here goes:

One-storey street retail @5-1001 Denman St: $7.42/SF/mth
https://spacelist.ca/p/bc/vancouver/1001_denman_st/5

In contrast, just across the street at Denman mall:
Mall retail: $4.58/SF/mth
http://looplink.vancouver.cbre.ca/ll/18466538/1030-Denman-Street/

Stack up more shops in Denman mall and we can get even cheaper retail space. It's a no brainer.

You can't compare brand new storefront retail on a busy street with an old space inside a low traffic mall.

Ron.

None that I know of.

But the podium of the Burrard Building hasn't been changed for any other retailer (since the recladding of the tower).

I wouldn't want Tiffany's to "chop up" the podium façade the way Cadillac Fairview has allowed others (Michael Kors) to eat into the 701 West Georgia facade.

I could see the granite Tiffany & Co entry extended vertically to show they have 2 floors.

Denman Place was more active and vital in the past, or am I wrong? Anyway, is a bright, energetic revitalization scheme not worth the $$$? It's a large building, and dominates the hood.

Because it does take up the full two stories of that whole corner I think changing the facade wouldn't be so jarring as what michael kors did. But I agree with at least doing it in a way that shows that they have the two floors.

Here's their newish Toronto location on Bloor, which I don't think would work with the colour of the Burrard Building's granite.
So the question is whether they replace the blue-gray granite strips with Carrera marble (chopping out the corner).
