Yeah, it's fairly brutal. It looks like the faux-historic outlet malls.

That being said, at least they are adding walkability to the suburbs.

191 Parliment street looks great. I love how they will be constructing a warehouse style podium from scratch and not just reusing the 2 run down unimpressive old structures on site. Anything to gentrify this part of the city is welcome.

33 Avenue Road is a fun looking one and the mix of old and new with the podium fits right in with how that part of town has evolved over the years. It looks like a very animated space will be created here.

68 Charles, I have nothing nice to say about this one sorry.

Rico Rommheim, none of them are built over homes, 191 Paliment will be a brand new structure from the ground up, 33 Avenue Rd will be built over several retail structures that have been butchered over the years, and 68 Charles is over an old apartment block right now, this might be the only one where I might agree with you.

It can be done right. Unfortunately that 33 Avenue road is simply insulting the houses it is literally sitting on.

Yep and 68 Charles is just as bad. I don't know what the architect was thinking with 191 Parliament. A faux Facadism.

I agree. It kills the urban feel that the tower should give by causing mixed visual signals of adding a single family home in front. Toronto needs to stop having 2-3 floor streetscapes. A city of 7 million should have a more solid streetwall.

191 Parliament is much better, with an actually urban building in the base.

The Entertainment District has massive streetwalls - 6 to 12 floors, the Annex has 2 to 4 level streetwalls..What is the better neighbourhood?

I don't think it makes or breaks one way or the other. IMO

I like heritage as much as the next guy, but if all we're left with is a facade, and the facade of 2 storey home from an era when the city was quite provincial, then I'd much rather have a good 7-10 storey streetwall.
