Ontario Teachers don't use TBL, as far as I can tell. And I don't see how renovation would make it satisfy the three bottom lines unless they are specifically targeting the ecological impact of the mall.

Off topic.

We're doing some reno's at home, which includes replacing all of the tile. The tile is cemented to the original linoleum. House built in 1972; and from what I hear -the linoleum could very well contain asbestos. Or maybe not.

Is there somewhere I could bring a sample to for testing, or anyone that you guys would recommend that could tell for sure?

Theres about 1000 sq. feet of tile to replace, so I'd rather be sure than not on a project this size.

^ you could call Golder & Associates or Pinchin West, both will test the material for you. There are more companies that do it but those are the ones I use

1972 lino is suspect, is it rolled Lino or tiles ? If it's tiles and they measure 9x9 don't even bother getting them tested, just call your master abater as it's pretty much guaranteed they're VA tiles. If it's rolled you may be in luck, although the backing on some is known to be asbestos

As 240 said there are quite a number of firms that do the testing and remediation. Do Not attempt to remove a piece and have it tested. the firms can come out and take a sample. Good luck, I know I will need to have it tested at my place as well since I have a 72 house and the kitchen floor has 2 layers of Linoleum.

Yeah it's roll up lino; and not the tiles. I'm sure I could identify the black asbestos backing; but I'm not confident in myself to know for sure.

Recently found out that the Green colored Duct sealant from the late 70's early 80's has asbestos in it. kind changed the game plan on a mechanical reno.

I would call the folks over at ASE - Robbie Carozza 780-242-6279 [email protected]. They do hazardous material testing, we've used them many times on our projects.

Some really stunningly good looking architecture going on here in E-Town. (not all, but more than we're used to).

For all its perceived flaws - saw the wraps off some of the glassed in east wall facing 97th St. of the RAM on the weekend. Much nicer than advertised..

Agreed KR façade is outstanding. It boggles the mind at what an undertaking that is/was. I'm sure it produced many headaches along the way.

The CofE tower is also looking nicer than I'd imagined. I like the subtle curve on its north side. As for the entire area, I can hardly wait until 2018 when most of these projects are completed. It'll give me more reasons to travel to the core with the family.

Question: I was in Edmonton last week and noticed that most buildings along 101 Street from 104th to 107th appear mostly vacant and/or derelict. Are there development plans for those sites, being so close to the arena district? I don't recall them being part of Katz's holdings.

Katz owns some land around there (green areas) but this doesn't show the ones fronting 101 street (could be different now as this is quite old):
