Hope this isn't another tower that's going to sit with significant empty space. Brion Energy, the major tenant just went through layoffs and probably doesn't need near the space they signed on for (at whatever the market rates were at the time). If they struggle further it's possible they don't even move into this tower at all.

Any idea how much higher this one is going before topping out?

I can see the upper half of the luffer crane from my place, but I doubt it will show up in my view.

Count me in as another person wishing we got this one in a different location so it could have potentially gone taller.

I'm fairly certain that's as high as it's going to get. The floor count is 27, and from the webcam I tallied up 27 floors plus an extra section of core that is currently being worked on.

Yeah agreed! way too many as it is.

I think the core is pretty much topped out now, so sadly this is as tall as it will get. F'n great looking building though, one of the finer new buildings in our city.

They are probably close to the limit for number of storeys/square footage without the core gobbling up too much of the bottom floors. Taller would force a fatter profile. The floor plate is already difficult to outfit.

Honestly though, if our main complaint about a building is that we want more of it, it's a pretty good sign.

Also keep in mind that this is a really visible location being on the corner of the park. Anyone driving west on 6th ave, walking from the Beltline on 5th st, or catching the c-train from the Core is going to get to feast their eyes. There's something about the Paskapoo sandstone of the old courthouse, spritely green crabapple trees, and soaring glass that reflects our endless blue sky that is soo Calgary. There's something very cirrus about 707.

I think I know where craner and TallBob stand, but I wonder what would be better: absorbing 75 floors of floorspace demand in a single building, or getting 2-3 unique 20-30 story buildings of this quality in different locations around Downtown. For instance, would you trade 707, the office portion of the new Eau Claire project, and Kahanoff for a 75-story 707 and two parking lots?
