Amidst all of the early April excitement re: Howell Mill, building demo, and the old folks' home at Lindbergh, I think we missed this hotel project in South Downtown. Apparently they're rehabbing an old 6-floor building at Pryor and Mitchell into a small hotel, coffee shop, and restaurant.

Brave project; I wish them all the luck in the world.

I wonder if these two stories are connected:

Emory acquires 60 acres at North Druid Hills and I-85 - ABC

Hawks and Emory team on new practice facility - AJC

Guess we'll find out at 2 PM.

Edit: Confirmed.

Edit 2: Initial rendering of the Hawks practice facility at Executive Park at North Druid Hills:

Any updates on T3? It's been almost a decade since any new development in AS.

Wasn't the Atlantic residential building completed in 2010? It really hasn't been a decade.

Hawks partner with Emory Healthcare to build training and sports medicine center.

The Atlanta Hawks and Emory Healthcare teamed up to build a 90,000-square-foot training and sports medicine center on Executive Park Drive in Brookhaven, Ga., that also will become the team’s official practice site. The club reported the privately-funded facility will feature the most advanced technology in sports medicine and athletic care built within a state-of-the-art training center with amenities. The Hawks Basketball Operations Department will be housed in the facility upon its completion. In addition to the naming rights to the training and sports medicine facility, Emory will become the official sports medicine provider of the team.

Atlanta-based construction and management firm H.J. Russell & Co. will be the project management team. HOK, which recently designed the award-winning Porsche Cars North America Experience Center and Headquarters in Atlanta and served as designer of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, has been hired as the leading architects on the project.

Love Azure. I hope it goes condo in time. Does anyone notice that blue near the bottom left of the tower portion? Near the ground level. Is that some kind of signage?

Are they having a hard time, no pun intended, at the new site on 14th street? Seems like they have been digging for weeks.

While I do not know, could you be more specific? There are a handful of projects going on for 14th.

I'm assuming that he is referring to the apartment building by Related Group (22 14th Street).

Assuming you mean 22 14th street, they're not just digging. They have been pouring piles which is the underground support structure of the buliding. It also looks as if they have poured a large slab in the area where they removed all that rock.

Planning updates from this week:

Plans filed for "The Standard," a mixed-use student apartment building at 738 Spring St NW.

Plans filed for a new "senior facility" at 185 Walnut NW, 3 blocks west of the GWCC. Good to see some development in this area.

Variance request filed for a three story commercial building at 423 Augusta Ave SE, in Grant Park across from the zoo entrance. It would have zero parking.

Plans filed for Alliance Residential mixed-use development with 237 units at 3190 Cains Hill Pl NW in Buckhead (Henri's Bakery site).

Plans filed for a "monumental sign" just north of Phipps Plaza at 3600 Wieuca Rd. Whatever that means...

And some building permit updates from this week:

-Building permits filed for demolition of existing buildings and construction of two new buildings for the Cornerstone mixed-use development across from Piedmont Hospital, 1891-1895 Peachtree Rd. "Mixed use building with parking deck with building uses including retail, medical office building and senior citizen housing."
Older rendering:

-Building permit filed for 2 story office building at 2620 Buford Hwy.

-Demolition permits filed for several houses in an area just north of Atlantic Station (456-460 Trabert). Could be for future development?

-Additional permits filed for Sweetwater Brewery $4million expansion.

-Site work permit filed for "new building" at 607 Peachtree. This is at the North Ave Presbyterian church. Anyone know what this is?

-Quite a few permits for new SFRs.
