AC has finalised its summer scheds (again) and some more cuts have occurred.

YYZ is being reduced to only 13 daily (was going to be 15-16 depending on the period and day). The good news is 3 of the 13 will still be on 763s.

YHZ is being wound back to just one daily rouge throughout the summer. YHZ was to be up to 10 weekly for peak summer travel (July and August).

The Airbus narrow body aircraft that were pulled off YYC/YEG-YYZ were transfered to YYC/YEG-YVR, the E90s have been sent out east and will only be based out of YYZ.

Just got back from Toulouse and saw the Beluga flying 3 times, multiple A380s and a flying A400. I love that airport.

Yes, at least YYC and YEG will still see the E90s on the YOW flights and YYC-EWR. YVR won't be seeing any this summer.

My preference is the opposite with regard to the YYC flights. The issue with the E90s is in their cabin, specifically the E90 cannot hold a full complement of liquor and food to support Premium Long Haul (PLH) on the transcontinental service. The A319/320/321 and of course the widebodies can handle the PLH service requirements. PLH service is primarily geared to Business Class cabin but there is are economy cabin impacts.

PLH service has 3-4 hot main course options for lunch or dinner, a greater selection of red wine, white wine, and hard liquor - plus Sparkling Wine and Champagne on the 321 and widebody.

Due to space constraints, the E90 can only handle limited number of 2 hot main courses and the vegetarian option is routinely a cold dish. There is no premium wine for the airplane, the wine is cheap individually packaged plastic bottled stuff for sale in Economy.

Economy pax have a much smaller selection of hot main course dishes (the unused business class cabin main course is sold to economy) plus the premium wine is not available for sale in economy. Finally the economy cabin second beverage service is very abbreviated (they usually give out all the soft drinks on the first beverage service.

PLH service is featured on AC transcontinental services between BC/AB and ON/QB.

I hear you. I was just looking at it from a variety perspective only It's a great little plane for shorter flights (up to 90 mins is perfect).

My next E90 flight is on the ULH flight from MEL-MQL (Mildura VIC)... Perfect for that whole 50-55 minutes in the air! A flight where I will be spending more time in the lounge than on the plane.

They were here long before that, I had to travel Alaska Airlines on YYC-LAX regularly starting around Fall 2002 and was not at all happy about that fact. It was usually on an MD-83, sometimes a 737-400.

And oh yeah, the pilots always said "We're going to Disneyland" before throttling up. They flogged Disney relentlessly, and credit cards that few of the passengers would have likely been eligible for.

Yeah thanks for that info. My info prior to 2004 is archived somewhere

What does Westjet say on its flights to LAX/SNA? With the Disney jets that's a flogging before even stepping on board!

That matches with what I remember in my flight instructor days around that time too, early mornings on the ramp and I'd see the 737-400 more often than not as one of the early morning departures.

Although I understand the business side of the equation, as somebody who sits in the back and tends not to view a flight as a wine-tasting or gastronomic adventure, I like the E90. The 2x2 configuration is awesome. I'm usually quite happy to see it on long flights east.

I agree. I've flown the E190 on YYZ-SEA-YYZ (the longest flight of this type in the world) and have no complaints whatsoever. The 2x2 makes a huge difference.

The flight theoretically departed at 7:15, but was often running late because of the intractable clusterfuck that preclearance and security were in those days because of construction and short-staffing. CBP also sent tons of people to secondary back then, myself included.

If the flight departed on-time a lot of the passengers would have still been standing in line at security.

Delays or not, I can't wait till the new Terminal opens, YYC seems to be bursting at the seams at times (getting through customs seems to be getting worse every trip).

I just hope to god they didn't model their customs/security process after Toronto.
