I'm thankful for the photos you provide but could you please decrease the size of the photos? Doing so makes it easy to appreciate your efforts. It's annoying to be viewing a zoomed in photo. It's just practical to have smaller sized pictures.

I'm afraid that I am not getting the underlying tone of hostility coming from Hunter. However, Cesar your photographs (whether or not they are big--I'm guessing that means telephoto), they are very lovely and quite artistic. In fact, I think that the telephoto effect gives the composition an interesting effect in that it provides a juxtaposition of the many sights and buildings (older and new) that give downtown its unique identity. I especially enjoy the B&W photos. Your efforts are the artistic counterbalance to Hunter's documentation photos of DTLA (which incidentally he does very well). Its all good-- let's calm down and enjoy what greatness we have on this forum

Thank you for posting pics Cesar. Its nice when people post pics without pretentious prattle on here. And even if Hunter thinks he's HBIC on this thread bc he gets away with alot and the mods fall all over themselves to excuse him...he's not the only game in town. Size your pictures how you wish...and let the delicate flowers on here learn to scroll a bit.

Very right , Just-In-Cali.

To King Kill 'em, black_crow, Wilcal, Just-In-Cali, Thank you for supporting & commenting.

I post pictures here with the Only purpose, so They can be enjoyed by everyone, incluiding me.

I really don't see much of a big deal at that resolution, If any, even better to just have a closer look at it.
Especially for this site, where We all want to see details of development and its progress.

I'm on mobile and have no issue with the photo sizes. It just means I have to zoom out a bit. Your pics are appreciated Cesar. Just don't post after Hunter. He doesn't like the attention taken away from him.

Always, I am very thankful for your work.

Never forget, you have the same rights like everybody else here. Hunter made his point, I can understand the part with the image size (I really can), but like people wrote before.. It's not what you say, but how you say it.

Nobody needs to tell us to "stay focused" or to do "this and that". We have great people here, please post as much pictures as you like and whenever you want. Thanks again.

PS:

That looks better now.

PS 2:

I am not intimidated at all.
Be respectful and get the respect that you deserve.

Peace.

^ from a view of dt looking west to east, the WG tower still looks definitely....noticeably....shorter than not only the us bank tower, but also the AON tower. That's also the way things looked when I was viewing dtla from the north looking south, driving southward a few wks ago.

I hope your pic is from awhile back. But if it's a very recent shot, then all the more reason I'm disappointed that dt still isn't attracting enough new businesses, like the ones flocking to the silicon bch area....as written about recently on blackcat's blog. If there were more demand for office space, the owner of WG probably would have upped the height of his tower & made it truly....truly....taller than the former library tower.

btw, cesar & others, as far as I'm concerned, there can never be too many pics posted here. The more the merrier.

If anything, there are so many new projs underway in the hood....from chinatown to south pk, from west of the 110 fwy to the arts dist....that certain areas, & some new devlpt or conversion projs, don't receive enough pictorial attention in this thread.

The beguilingly credible CGI rendering of real-life animals takes its biggest leap forward since Life of Pi in Disney's new telling of The Jungle Book. Exceptionally beautiful to behold and bolstered by a stellar vocal cast, this umpteenth film rendition of Rudyard Kipling's tales of young Mowgli's adventures amongst the creatures of the Indian jungle proves entirely engaging, even if it's ultimately lacking in subtext and thematic heft.

After having completely succeeded in transporting you to its primeval jungle setting, the film concludes, at the very end of the lengthy final credits, with the cheeky note, “Filmed in Downtown Los Angeles.” At least one sort of movie magic is still very much at work here.

I’m still in SoCal enjoying a few days of sunny skies and fresh produce, and I’ll have a full report on WonderCon for Publishers Weekly later this week. But a few quick observations:

• The LA Convention Center is not very well planned as a convention center, but it has a full array of services, including food and beverages. The venue never got crowded and is very well suited to a large consumer show. Downtown LA has undergone an immense amount of development and all the jokes about tent cities no longer apply.

• I think the LA location would be more suitable to growing WonderCon as a viable, earlier in the year warm-up for the San Diego Comic-Con than Anaheim, which has a larger facility but more retracted environs. THat said. WonderCon is going back to Anaheim for the near future.

Look at that truck in the air in that last photo!

I'm extremely delighted to see Oceanwide in full swing after some of us had doubts a few months ago.

Guys, I could use a bit of help here. I'm working on the adaptive reuse projects, but I think i'm missing a few. Could someone help me point out what's missing? This is what I have so far.

Case Hotel
Harold Examiner
Trinity Auditorium
Giannini Place
Clark Hotel
Commercial Exchange
May Co Building
939 S Broadway
950 S Broadway

I really like the third picture. The angle is perfect, the Metropolis Tower and the Wilshire Grand Center are closing the last gap (from that point of view).

Do you remember where you took this picture?

@King Kill 'em

Thank you for the Oceanwide Plaza update, glad to see progress.

@Mojeda101

Sorry, I am not very familiar with all the reuse projects. Good job so far.

I like this B&W as it nicely shows the cluster of historic garment buildings composed with City Hall and St. Viabiana's small tower peeking out. Sadly, it also shows the disaster of the Ronald Reagan State office building (appropriately named of course). And again sadly, it shows part of the "fashion district"--newer shops which cater to the clothing tourist shopper. What a mish-mash of tick-tacky shops. It was a lost opportunity that the city did not impose some sort of design standards on the development there before it was too late. That sounds all too familiar, doesn't it?

yes, I bike often up to Griffith park, I've found a place I like, mainly for proximity and easier access compare to others spots. Here's the spot I took it from:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/34%C2%...ata=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0?hl=en

Usually not many people either.

I see it too looking a little short from there, Even though that picture was taken 2 days ago. I feel like once it's completed, the tower would be looking just even to the Us Bank from that spot

For the time I've been living in LA which isn't long, I feel like sometimes the decisions whether development takes place soon and without any opposition is sort of a problem, So It's great for its diversity, but I think sometimes the divided opinion/economies slow down and result in disasters.

I was in town for a bit and I snapped these the other night. I didn't realize how much of an impact the 8th & Olive tower would be but I love it! Once the Onni 50 story rises it'll rise just to the left of it from this angle. A tiny cluster of new glass highrises. I wish TEN50 was 10 floors higher but it's definitely making an impact considering the surrounding area is nothing but 6 stories. Seriously, every project going in Downtown makes an impact and is very noticeable from a higher perspective. It won't be long before we have Curbed and Urbanize make articles saying the last of the parking lots have bit the dust.

Not edited, they're just raw shots straight from the camera.

What are you smoking?!?! WG is a SUPERTALL and the tallest building on the West Coast! Your eyes deceive you!

At 1099' WG is 81 feet or EIGHT phantom-stories taller than US Bank Tower! You're delusional!

p.s. That shot of DTLA from presumably Griffith (Cesar90) is always disappointing to look at. It demonstrates how hollow and spartan our skyline is. A one-dimensional string of skyscrapers with gaps larger than the skyscrapers themselves. It looks like we're TRYING to have a grown-up skyline LOL (as opposed to simply BEING a big city skyline). Not impressive. DTLA needs to build 200% as many skyscrapers (and not a ton of thirty-story podiums) as already exist now on top of its current skyline in order to have anything worthy of LA's on-paper size.

Having lived in LA my whole life, I stopped banking on "skyline diplomacy" to elevate the profile of our city internationally and have since focused on improving LA at the street level where real life happens. That's why I'm still disappointed in Oceanwide and Circa. We are turning South Park into Miami. LA deserves much better than a vertical suburbia. To hell with the profile of our downtown as viewed from Kenneth Hahn or whatever.

Oh yeah. And the obligatory thanks for and complements to the pics. Great stuff.

^If you want vertical suburbia, look at century city residential towers. It's suburbaneqsue because it isn't walkable and made for cars. DTLA is walkable.
