Plans filed for Arts District warehouse development

Adding 65,000 square feet, or three floors, to the two-story structure. Uses will include a private club with offices, a gym and a swimming pool. The ground-floor will have a food market, a cafe and retail.

Located right next door to the Garey Building.

The developer likely takes some, if not most, of the blame here for value engineering, but TCA really has to start thinking about its legacy.

The Garey Building, on the other hand, is awful, awful, and awful. They're taking two completely disparate architectural styles and throwing them together - to horrible effect. Had they stuck with one style or the other, this may have been passable, but the combined effect looks like it was started by one architect, and finished by another, blind one. Sad, because those architects could have learned better just a few blocks away.
Took the words right out of mouth, even the number of awfuls...

I actually don't mind the Garey Building, it isn't fantastic, but I think the brick looks really nice.

The Garey has too much going on and Wakaba LA looks is ok. Took these yesterday of Chinatown Blossom Plaza. I think it is one of the better projects. While it is only large building. I like how it is broken up with design and materials

New 1,250 foot tower proposed for 7th & Fig lot

Quote:
The 1,250 foot tower would rise 1,250 feet in the air and contain 1000 residential units and 300 hotel rooms. The project is slated for the north-west corner of the lot and would contain over 30,000 feet of retail space on the ground floor. This project would contain no parking and if you've read this far you'll realize what day it is.

I also wished he went for that aesthetic instead of the faux-Italian look. I wonder why Palmer is so obsessed with that style. I guess I'll stick with the theory that it's easy/cheap for Palmer to copy and paste the design.

Cesar, I get that you will literally never miss an opportunity to post Wilshire Grand photos directly after every one of my posts, but could you at least decrease your image post size so we don't bog down the site for people.

no offense, but maybe it looks to you that way, I usually just post photos daily, around the same time (when I get back home).
otherwise I could think the same of you,

Anyways if everybody else thinks is more proper, I will decrease the size of the pictures.
