Very ambitious, indeed. Do you guys think the old buildings near Lougheed station will get torned down anytime soon? They are just such eye sores for future residents in this new towers when looking outside from their balconies.

No...if you are referring to the Lougheed rental towers those just sold for $160M based on their income. Not feasible to demolish and rebuild.

Those rental towers may have ugly exteriors but the interiors are all renovated and up to date, and much more spacious than the condos built today. They are not going anywhere anytime soon.

Impressive skyline as viewed from the west and east. Those existing concrete rental towers are also incorporated in the rendering to show that they are here to stay.

Damn, Lougheed plans put 80% of North American downtowns in shame!

I love the overall concept of it, especially the north south promenade, however, I question the need for all the pedestrian bridges. Personally, I think it would be better to have an intersection as that means pedestrian traffic isn't being divided between different levels. They also intend to make Austin a high street and I don't see how diverting traffic would help. It's also a visual barrier over Austin Street, however, so is the nearby Skytrain station and viaduct - so that's not a very strong argument.

According to the diagram it says there is a very tall building existing on the corner of North rd and Lougheed. There is no building of such height on that corner? Or is one already proposed by another developer?

Yeah, that one is a bit strange. The tallest towers in the area today are up the hill and are around 30 floors.

What's happening in Burnaby is sort of "Toronto with mountains" and this future Lougheed Town Centre rather caps it all off

What the hell is Shape Properties building at the former Sears Outlet? Is this gonna be a giant presentation sales centre?

In the vicinity - Cameron & North Road.
Revised from lowrise or midrise (if I recall correctly) to 2 towers:

That's not a bad guess. Might be a bit premature for a sales centre though.
