Yeah, the entire block.

It would be stupid of them to build any residential on the City-owned site, as I'd expect them to need it in future for further office expansion.

Here are some more pics of Citti at 238 W. Broadway. Looks like it's pretty well topped out.

I have been keeping an eye on this project since just after the Olympics when Indigo Hotel started to go down. They were slowly replacing all the windows in the tower over the summer and it appears from the pics that there's also new drywall in the tower suites. Also the orange panels between the smaller windows are very new, i'm not sure if they are steel or what. It would be nice if they painted the drab dark blue on the balconies to match. Seems they are using the podium as storage for the materials going in the tower but the second floor above the hotel entrance has been opened up as you can see in mcminsens pics, maybe they're starting to renovate the podium. I'd like to see the curved plexiglass restaurant completely remodeled along with the facade of the podium, its never been an attractive building.

Also in the future it would be great if they demolished the southern portion of the podium and built a second tower on the southern corner of the property. The views from those top floor suites facing north must be spectacular.

Here's an update on the Plaza 500 building at 12th and Cambie (kitty corner from City Hall). Looks like they're getting ready to rent.

I guess it's been almost 3 months since my last update on Spot (at 12th & Cambie, south of City Hall). It is above grade now and the restoration of the heritage house is well under way.

Wonder what the shadows inside the office would look like on a sunny day.. It's one ground floor level of offices?

I think so, with a mezzanine in the back. Once they're open for business I might step in sometime just to see what it looks like from the inside looking out.

Thanks for the photos.

Three new retail buildings in a row, and all 3 have a 100% glass facade and glass canopy. They do this because it is the cheapest possible way to build something. Now that corner completely expressionless til the end of its time.

This corner used to have some visual variety and it offered its tenants the opportunity to create their own facade...

Eventually, a row of buildings like that turn into this...

When you see shit like this lining the street, you really got to consider giving heritage status to those buildings that were knocked down.

Yeah, and I never get what is up with those stupid mezzanines on this type of building. Unbearably hot in good weather usually.

Why is this kind of space waster even allowed a block from a transit hub? To think several units of affordable housing were lost for this.

The Running Room/Menchies building isn't a new build - it was just given a new facade.

******

Wish the BCCAA building didn't have the solid spandrel strip on the left.
What with the asymmetry?
If you want a visual anchor to tie the building to its neighbour, use stone or brick.
