Fog is just condensed moisture suspended in air, usually due to high humidity and low air pressure. We do get moisture here.

Although it has more than its fair share of duds, Edmonton also has more than its fair share of first class buildings - great picture. Along with Manulife, the CN building is also a beauty.

Great tower but, massive dud at street level.

^ There are buildings far worse when it comes to street-level, Manulife at least has a couple of shops whose primary (in one case, the only) access is from the street; but overall you're right, it is still very inward-facing, with lots of blank granite walls. With any luck they will make some changes when Holt Renfrew finally decides what they are going to do.

I agree, Edmonton is a city of extremes. There are some absolutely top notch beauties (CN is one of my favourite buildings anywhere) which go a long way toward offsetting the duds.

I like that one red tower. I don't know what it's called, but it's quite distinctive.

I still don't get the fascination with the CN building. It's one of my least favorite. There are far superior International Style buildings across the country IMO.

The CN Tower was ahead of its time... the vertical lines and subtly bowed walls gave it a very sleek and modern look that has aged very well. The building is well proportioned and it's one of the only buildings I've seen where a parkade podium actually enhances the overall look of the structure.

The setting at the top of 100 St gives it a very dramatic look within the context of downtown Edmonton. It's set apart a bit from the rest of the downtown streetscape, but in a way that really emphasizes its stature. The lobby has a memorably impressive look that gives it a certain grandeur.

It's height is quite impressive for its era... it was among the tallest in Canada when built. Even the animated sign at the top gives it a bit of an added futuristic feel that evokes an extremely optimistic era in history.

The original railway station function gave it another dimension that embedded it into the urban fabric in a unique way.

There is nothing that isn't to like about the CN Tower... it is really an exceptional building.

Snapped from my phone on my way to the train station:

The desolate landscape at Peel and St-Antoine is slated to become two towers of 130-180m. For now it just looks sad.

The blighted landscape south of the Bell Centre is slowly turning into the site of two 170m mixed-use towers (+ a 10-15 storey affordable housing block at St-jacques / Montagne). For now it looks like this:

Educated guess: Warm sun melting the frozen ground during the day then the air cooling down overnight, so the ground is warm the morning after while the air is still cold.

I've always found that from certain angles, Vancouver looks way bigger than it actually is.

This is a good example. It looks like friggin Sao Paulo or something!
