Is it 1950 or am I just really new-age for thinking both parents, not just women, are responsible for properly raising the children they produce?

Interesting considering the building has 25,000 sq ft of space they are trying to lease out.

The old CP Telecommunications building on Henry?

According to the link below it was originally designed to support three more storeys... who knew? You can still do that almost 60 years later?

If an upward expansion is approved, hopefully it is designed properly, unlike that mess at 140 Bannatyne with the different shade of brick. Had the two floors been glass carried over from the new entrance, it would look wicked.

I agree completely. A radical departure on the upper floors of that building would have suited it much more than a poor match, which is what there is now.

Hopefully it is true this time. I know that was in their plans 3 or 4 years ago.

I know there aren't many vacant lots near the MMF building but there are many of what I'd call underutilised sites... small light industrial buildings occupying a large lot, that sort of thing. I kind of wish MMF would build a proper urban office building on one of those sites instead, although I suppose that's a bit of a pipe dream... I guess the beauty of building up is that the land acquisition budget can be $0.

Speaking of that, whatever happened to the plan the MMF floated to develop that parking lot between their building and the Aboriginal Centre (aka former CPR station)?

Some type of campus development could do wonders for the area, which is rather depressed.

A few years ago? A Plymouth Reliant? Lol if that were built across from the current building, that would be great.

Currently pre-selling condos. They have sold approaching 150 units. Their goal is to sell roughly half the 388 units by end of 2016. So they need to sell another 50 units roughly. Then construction is to start in 2017.

I think there's supposed to be some form of announcement coming soon, this month IIRC. About the grocer and other tenants. But it's be quite silent from them lately.

Update on the development of the Mayfair Ave site: public consultations will be held in May, and there are currently no designs; they will not be initiated until mid-2016.

I realize it's not downtown but it would be nice if there was at least a bit of urban flavour to whatever pops up on that site... the old Maples/Southdale type townhouses there were a little too suburban.

Check. Social/cooperative housing does not need to look like that. Thankfully with the awareness of urban design being at the forefront today, the result will be better.
