No the first rezoning is for one of the properties for the Shadowlawn and Peachtree tower. It is occupied by a hair salon right now I believe.

What a wasted opportunity to build something worthy of such an Innovative company.
I believe the CEO even spoke of mass transit connectivity being an important component of the project – if I’m not mistaken.

I thought this rendering was from The Onion. Unfortunately, it's very real.

Last time I checked, Mercedes-Benz is a car company. That means they make and sell CARS.

Employees concerned with houses and and schools "can locate north and commute south," Cannon said earlier. "The young Gen-Yers that want that downtown urban living...can take a short MARTA ride, north (to work).
Yet they are still a pretty good hike from the MARTA station -- roughly 3/4 of a mile or so -- and it's not the most inviting walk.

Perhaps they will run a shuttle?

I saw a sign for this today: Appeal of One Buckhead Look Condominium Association, Inc. of a decision of an administrative officer of the Office of Planning for the approval of a Special Administrative Permit (SAP-14-159) for property located at 3350 Peachtree Road, N.E., fronting 1,359 feet on the northwest side of Peachtree Road and beginning approximately 580 feet from the northwest intersection of Peachtree Road and Stratford Road. Zoned SPI-12, SA-1 (Buckhead/Lenox Stations Special Public Interest District). Land Lot 62 of the 17th District, Fulton County, Georgia. Owner: Parkway One Capital Plaza, LLC & Regent Atlanta IV, LLC Council District 7, NPU B

Isn't this were there are two new towers proposed in the parking lot behind Capital City Plaza?

I think that is the Sovereign "phase 2" building. Apt tower + another office and condo tower that is supposed to be similar in styling to sovereign and not far off in height. I think it's Tower Place development

I've driven by the old MB USA HQ in New Jersey a couple of times on my way Upstate and let me tell you that it was a very unassuming, unattractive campus in a busy, yes, but not very transit friendly part of North Jersey. I believe it was nearly 1 mile to the Montvale NJ Transit station.

Straight outta Deutschland! Leni Riefenstahl snapping some pics and a German Shepherd or two would complete the ensemble neatly.

http://buckheadview.com/2016/03/03/cid-t...oudermilk-park-review-sky-park-proposal/

Quote:
Turning to a more complex park situation, the CID heard Durrett report that a subcommittee of the board is reviewing proposals from six design firms related to the vision of building an almost 10-acre park in the air space over GA 400 and the Buckhead MARTA rail station that would stretch from Peachtree to Lenox roads.

In January, the board decided to issue a request for proposals for park designs and cost estimates. “We had six outstanding teams [submit]…They absolutely understand the project,” said Durrett.

But Thad Ellis, senior vice president at Cousins Properties and a member of the review subcommittee, voiced another opinion. Ellis said a couple of the proposals are just a “fancy regurgitation” of items in the CID request, while another stood out as “fantastic.”
Quote:
At the CID’s April meeting, the firm selected by the subcommittee will be presented to the full board, including its technical qualifications and their estimated costs. At that time the board may vote to move forward to the next step, or put the concept on the shelf for now.
So we will know early next month whether the GA400 park will move forward or be shelved, and possibly see the selected vision from the six submissions.

I have never really been a fan of Buckhead or cared much about what development happened outside of Downtown/Midtown, but I REALLY hope this happens for Buckhead. This would be AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe they'll do something like this in Midtown over 75/85.

Someone is saying the work for a design firm, and that the park is already approved as far as they are aware.

Not true. No funding has been allocated beside the design and engineering.

They need a final design in order to get a cost of construction from a contractor. Once they have that, they will then pursue funding through various sources.

Grant Park To Get Entertainment District.

A large-scale adaptive reuse has been announced for Grant Street by Philippe Pellerin, a developer who is active in several projects in Grant Park and the surrounding area.A group of industrial buildings at the end of Grant Street will soon be transformed into a $20 million adaptive reuse dining and entertainment project along the Atlanta Beltline’s planned Southside Trail within walking distance of Zoo Atlanta. The project would create a ‘tasting room’ atmosphere with several restaurants and an urban winery.
